Pick a villain who faded into obscurity or was killed for their overall crappiness who you would want brought back in the modern era with an interesting twist given to them.

I'd nominate Demogoblin. Play up the whole crazy religious angle.

I always thought the idea of Flag-Smasher's anti-nationalisist stance could make him a really cool antitheisis to Captain America, as well as other patriotic heroes. The problem is that I've never read a really compelling story with him. Also he needs a new costume, as his is incredibly bland.

M.O.D.O.K.- but I wouldn't change a thing.

Blackout- I always dug his powers and costume. It's a pity nothing more was ever done with him except write him out.

Psychoman- I think a modernization of his technology from a three button device to more high tech devices, an updated costume and a modern crime story would make this guy relevant again.

Modok -Read Fall of the Hulks

Blackout - Read current Ghost Rider

Psychoman - He's goofy lookin.

Great choice!

Iron Man 2020 (Arno Stark). His design is great, it's 2010, he should be integrated into Fraction's IM universe.

The Enforcer. Another great costume design. This guy could be a great Daredevil Bucky Barnes-Captain America or Spider-Woman threat. Nice to see a new version introduced in Made Men.

Scourge. The return of the original, complete with his mysterious assistant Domino. A long arc that slowly ends in a reveal that sums up the character's entire existence. Make him a real threat, specifically in the Cap book(s).

There are so many that were recently given a new life in the right hands.

I'd say that Purple Man, Ghost, Madame Masque, and Dr. Faustus are the best that I've known them to be.

Were the Moses Magnum Busiek Avengers issues any good? I've always had a soft spot for him and think he can be a big Iron Man villain.

Thanks to Christos Gage, they've received the most love since the 80's, but....

The Brothers Grimm. Great costumes, and if played right, the sleaze-factor of the Grimes brothers could make a great, seedy MAX story starring Spider-Woman.

In fact, her entire rouges gallery would make for a great MAX book: The rapist Clown guy, Tick-Tock, Gypsy Moth with her drug-addled followers and the Needle (both member's of the awesome Night Shift) would be great for a long running crime series.

Yeah, I'd like to see what Brain has in store for Spider-Woman's rogues gallery after the skrull stuff dusts up.

She's still an "Agent of SWORD" so maybe we won't be seeing them at all.

Good call. He has the potential to be rather creepy. He was, if I recall correctly, in constant telepthatic communication with everyone on Earth and maniuplated the Upstarts to kill mutants, presumedly for his own amusement. Was he ever mentioned in the list of the 198?

My not-so-serious nomination: Cardiac!

For those who voted Gyspy Moth..she already got revamped. She became the really sexy Skein http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skein_(comics) also Will-o-wisp and Cardiac are anti-heroes not villians. I like Skein as is and I hope Bendis doesn't screw her up. I mean he's aready making Bucky Cap bullshit the Avengers by saying he killed Hitler when it was the Android Human Torch who did it. Of course Hitler's mind was saved by Zola. So eh.

Yeah, good call on Will o the Wisp - anti-hero or not he's got a power and look to be exploited.

I feel like other Spectacular guys like Tarantula, The Answer, and Lightmaster could be beefed up.

I'm even more interested in that Kingpin phenomenon. Who can you take from one character's lesser Rogue's Gallery and make him the arch-enemy for another hero?

Good call.

I was trying to think of an alien who would make for a good Spider-Woman big bad.

Deathbird or a cult of Dire Wraiths come to mind.

I also came across this FF villain who sounds like an anti-Jessica Drew in his purposeful childhood but demented agenda. Never saw him in action:

Devos the Devastator:
"As a child, Devos' homeworld was assaulted by raiders, and he was orphaned. He grew up alone in the ruins for years, until he was found by soldiers who recruited him for the army. He quickly became one of the best warriors, and was chosen by Symka for the "Great Experiment", which resulted in him becoming the ultimate weapon of destruction, but he determined that he would use this power to bring about galactic peace by destroying any race capable of making war."

The Shocker two-parter in ASM with Marcos Martin on art was A+. Some villains should never be more than hired muscle with a gimmick and he works as is, IMHO.

Also, not shitty villains, but I'd love to see DD's Hand go up against Hickman's re-formed Hydra.

THAT's a way to shake up Matt's status quo. It's one thing to give him this new role but if he's still dueling with the Kingpin and dirty cops, well, it doesn't have that minty fresh feeling.

BUT, pit his evil organization against HYDRA, team up with the Secret Warriors, DD Vs. The Gorgon - now we're talking.

Black Mask. He became much less a generic gangster and more a criminal mastermind and master strategist when penned by Judd Winick, and was subsequently slain following OYL.

When written by Brubaker, he actually abducted Selina Kyle's sister and husband-in-law, tortured the husband in front of Catwoman's sister, cut out one of the husband's eyes and fed it to his wife just to prove a point.

Also, Great White Shark needs some cool stories. Slott made him a tragic and insane antagonist in Arkham Asylum: Living Hell. Robinson established him as the possessor of a savvy and methodical criminal mind during his Post-OYL eight-issue run. He could be an inane looking lump if never used again or an awesome foil for Batman.
