For the folks counting at home that's a conservative estimate of $771.4M before Federal taxes.

(That's not including taxes saved by not having to enforce marijuana laws, house marijuana-related prisoners, court costs, etc.)

18.4 million in mass.

I think that's a bit low, considering all the colleges we have around here.

I believe it's based on marijuana consumption v. population.

I think that 6.2 is pretty low for Iowa.

I think that California number is pretty low. I just want to get in on the lowballing going on.

We'd be the second highest GDP if you legalized it.

I'm surprised Minnesota is higher than Oregon.

I have a hard time believing North Dakota spends more per capita on marijuana than California. That's gotta be bullshit. Everyone here is an alcoholic or a meth head.

Yeah, but have you ever seen the CNN Money tax revenue estimates...on weed?

But isn't that assuming everyone would go for the expensive legal option?

I spend the same amount of money on weed a month now that I buy kush as when I bought schwag. The only difference is quantity.

How many illegal alcohol and tobacco manufacturers are there?

There's way more profit for organized business on the legal side of things.

Just told my dad how much Tennessee would get if we legalized and his response was "Yeah but how many people would die..."

Slightly more than the 450,000 that die from Tobacco use every year.

If you do get him high, stop the conversation midway through and ask what you were just talking about.

Is there a story or anything that occompanies the chart?

Like you can read, hippie.

Psst. It's one of those ancient articles that someone dug up. From 2005. (http://money.cnn.com/2005/06/07/commentary/wastler/wastler/index.htm)

You're saying more than 450k people would die from smoking weed?

Boris the Blade

No, I think he means that slightly more would be added to the "die from smoking" category. Could be wrong.

And I don't even think it would make a difference. If you want weed, you can find it. It'd just be taking it out of the dealers hands and into that of some company.
