It's is a contraction for it is or it has.
Its is a possessive pronoun meaning, of it or belonging to it.
"It's a baseball bat. Because of its density, it's gonna hurt when I hit you upside your head with it." :)

A few months ago I said "The ironing is delicious". FM thought I was serious and corrected me.
My point is, I think one day he may snap and beat someone to death with a dictionary.
