So like I said before, I have been away for a while. I have been spending most of my spare time working on pages and such. But now i have a bit more time, and i though i would start trying to rejoin the group here. I have done some new stuff, and I wanted to start a thread to show my new work as it comes.(sketches, commissions, pages, and finished published work)

This some of you may have already seen. Penciled and colored by me, inked by my good friend Matthew Warlick
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj312/peeplesart/invincible_peeples_warlick-color.jpg

Done as a fun sketch. Turned it into a colored print for Dallas Comic Con. It was fan fave out of the stuff on my table
http://i275.photobucket.com/albums/jj312/peeplesart/SUPERGIRL.jpg

Another just for fun warm up sketch that i turned into a print for DCC. Colored by artist friend Vihn Luan Luu

Your art seems to have improved since the last time I saw it. Good work, man.

I love the koala in the space suite.

However:

Is it not tough to use your sword if your breasts are over your arm like that ;)

First... Not all mutant female ninjas are flat chested.

Second... She's posing for the person she's sitting on the bed in front of and mesmerizing him (or her) with her assests before the throat slitting commences.

Third... Go to the corner. Now.

Firstly, I didn't say she should be flat chested. Just that a more proper fighting technique would be to have the arm in front, rather then under the breasts.

Second, I think clearly that is not the case, or the top would be more low-cut. Or, in Adam's case, she would have rope.

Third... Well. I actually have no qualms with third. :)

First... You are correct, and I didn't say that you did. And you are correct on the observation. We wouldn't want any accidental double mastectomies on the battlefield.

:Second, I think clearly that is not the case, or the top would be more low-cut. Or, in Adam's case, she would have rope.

Second... If it was low cut, then it would be possible that in the struggle one or both might pop out and thus creating an awkward situation. She can't afford any wardobe malfunctions, but then one should ask, why is she taking any chances with the outfit she currently and frequently wears? Hmmmm...

And yes, Adam would love rope.

Would love to test for DC also, just dont know how to get in touch with anyone there.

So we shall see, when I get these Marvel pages off, what happens. My issue of Grimm Fairy Tales, #43, came out DEC 23. So you can go check that out. And I will be in the Grimm Fairy Tales 2009 Annual. It should be out in early Feburary?

I think your art looks good. I do have one question: I don't understand how you get from snakes biting his face to Herc flying backwards. Did the snakes push him backwards, did she push him backwards, or did Herc jump backwards? She probably tossed him around to the other side, but it doesn't look like that happened (Respectfully, IMO). I will differ to your explanation, you're the published artist.

She kicks his legs out from under them ish. i figure if he got bitten in the face with snakes, he is already moving backward and with his legs out from underneath him, he will fall backward. i went round and round on this panel, and that is the one that came out best. i originally thought to show it in a close up shot, but i didnt like it as much.

Nice.

I'd urge you to take a stab at it, even if it's just for your own experimentation. Take the pencils to a copy shop and see if they can inverse-copy them so that you end up with white lineart on dark carton like on the Batwoman, then color on there. Your pencils will be fine and you'll have a good way to play around.

Having seen the samples of your artwork you've posted in the past, I think (digital) inks can be detrimental to it. With the prisma colors, you don't have lineart left and the artwork can breathe better.

From your comments I know you want to be the type of artist who can turn in pages quickly on a tight deadline. This is important and adding coloring to the mix would slow you down of course. But look to people who do painted artwork as role models. This is where your strength seems to be and where your individuality shows. Cultivate that and your chances to stand out from the pack will improve a hell of a lot.

Look at it this way: You may need some time and practice to get into a routine doing colors by hand on your pencils, but you WILL get that routine. You'll find ways to improve your workflow along the way. I suspect you'll even find out that you'll become a lot looser with your pencil work, which would speed you up.

Hope you don't read this the wrong way. I'm just trying to push you in a direction that is likely to help you grow as an artist.

Oh, I dont read this the wrong way at all. That is something i have never really thought about. It might be something I try here in the near future. If nothing else, It would be fun to play with.

Thats one of the reasons I started the Batwoman piece. I wanted to step outside of the box and do something other than the norm. Push myself.

But for now, finding time to finish that before Con time is going to be a chore. Because there is good news.

1. I am starting a new project for Zenescope. This one has a semi short deadline. But hey man its worth it. cool little story

2. I heard back from Marvel, and they had some really good things to say. They want to see me do another round for them, and sent me some fresh scripts. So on to round two. I'm pretty exciting. Don't know where it will lead if anywhere right now, but its nice to no hear "no" :) (here's hoping)

Wow, congratulations to you. Here's hoping you get the job.

Hah! I can guesstimate measurements in inches much better than in centimeters. But the conversion from in > ft > yd > mi always sucks. The metric system makes much more sense for conversions.

New stuff y'all. First is a commission for FrnkCastle here on the board. The second is my contribution to the weekly sketch blog that Joe Eisma and myself are apart of. The chun lie piece is an experiment with quils for inks instead of my typical use of tech pens, hence the not so clean lines and smudges.

Also folks, I will be at Wonder-Con this comin weekend, so I am taking pre-orders for the show. Just hit me up or FrnkCastle up and I will get crackin on them and have them ready for you at his table at the show.

hope you guys like the two new pieces.

That is a really nice looking Punisher, but I think you misunderstood the title is this thread. You must have assumed that it is a clever misspelling of "people's art". As in art from people.

It is in fact, the thread where artist Brent Peeples shows off his art. Hence "Peeples Art Thread".

Simple mistake!

You art looks cool. Start your own thread for it!

Great work, man. And you're really improving a LOT buuuuuuuuuuutt I feel you're using a little bit too much of olivier coipel's techniques.

It's always cool to be inspired but try looking at other artists to balance yourself out, so people don't start calling you a clone or anything like that.

Great stuff, tho

Exactly. Take all those artists that influence you and mix them up in that stylistic gumbo until you get something that you can call yours. That and you can do like I do with an artist I dig, look at who influenced them and try to understand not how they did something, but why.
