I want to know what the big deal with Degrassi Junior High (and later the high school era) was.

I remember it being lauded as this breakthrough and realistic series and thinking that this show is so unrealistic.

I mean I grew up being around the same age as the characters and I grew up in Toronto, Canada where the show is set and I can't recall being in situations or knowing anyone like what they presented on this show.

For one thing NO ONE would have stupid ass nicknames like Wheels or Snake or Spike coz if they did they would been teased incessantly.

And there's the clothes and the hair... WTF?!?!? These guys were like 5 - 10 years behind the curve with what was actually going on in schools at the time.

And then from writing and acting standards it was a terrible show as well.

So Degrassi fans out there explain the appeal of this show to me.

Degrassi was simply there at a time when a lot of us were that age.

It was also where we learned Canadian kids were all fucked up.

I was first introduced to Degrassi: Next Generation and am a huge fan of the show. I went to buy season 2 last night, but Best Buy was sold out. So I got seasons 1 and 2 of Degrassi Junior High. Watched the first two episodes last night. It's not clicking with me as much as the next generation - which is somewhat weird since it's closer to when I actually went to junior high.

But, I can't get enough of my Degrassi: Next Generation.

Can't wait for the new episodes of DTNG to start in July.

DAMN, because we are taking off our roof this weekend, we had to take down our sattelite dish.

No tv for me all week, and probably not until the new roof goes on some time next week.
