Bah! I'll give you touchy. The people in here who read the spoilers are like my seven year old when she buys someone a gift and can't help but keep giving little clues until the gift is obvious.
Read that as "giving little poos"
It won't be long before we have a scene of Lori shitting in the woods.

Waitaminute...I thought everyone hates Sasha...at least in this thread ;)
That said, aside from Sasha's "jokes" the tone of the thread for this half of the season has been a hell of alot more civil than its been in the past...especially since a guy who thinks he's a movie expert hasn't posted on here since the beginning of the first half.

HE doesn't really post on the board at all anymore does he? I know he came back for awhile but he didn't stay long
The need to have a spin off that is just T-whatever, Andrea and Daryl running a community finance center that brokers small business loans to people in poor communities.

Was genuinely surprised that they killed off Shane. Was beginning to think he was like Damon on VD, the team asshole who is functionally immortal because there's no drama without him. I wonder what the drama will be now? Without Shane, there's not much to do except straight-up zombie-slaying.

Well, they've been driving for at least an hour or so (based on Rick's remark about the fuel), so they're probably quite a distance away from Herschel's farm and he may not even know about the prison.

Well, they do tend to keep the locations of jails quiet.
They need to ditch the idea of sticking Carol with Daryl. Michonne needs to use her feminine wiles to show Daryl racism is wrong, and he should be a good person, and not be mean and stuff. Two badasses on that scale need to be together and make babies for this new world.

Thank you. Look, I really enjoy this show, but small things just irk me about it. All they would have needed was for Herschel to say, well Rick there is this prison about 10 (however many) miles out, maybe we could go there, while they were on the highway. Also, Rick being a sheriff in Georgia shouldn't he know that there is a prison in the vicinity. I get that they need an element of surprise but I'd take logic 100 times over surprise. Overall a good episode though, I'll shut-up now.

I thought Rick was a sheriff from Kentucky, so why would he know where a prison in the backwoods of bumfuck, Georgia be at? Especially after aimlessly driving for a few hours on country roads.

Great episode, in my opinion. Sure, you can nick-pick it to death but it was solid finale. If anything, it reinforced how much of a dick Lori is. Her reaction to Rick's admission to killing Shane spoke volumes.
I still say that Rick and Andrea will end up together at some point.
Lastly, when I heard Frank Darabont was off the show, I thought the show was sunk. I eat my words now.

So.. Michonne and Tyrese as criminals, huh?
I like the idea of bringing in Tyrese as an inmate, though hopefully it ends up being something petty (comparitively) like he robbed a bank after being unemployed and was just trying to feed his family and had a record so they sent him to prison, but despite Rick's fears he's not a bad guy. A little cliched sure, but it is a quick intro and origin while allowing for a few more 'worse' inmates to use as zombie food down the line.
michonne doesn't need the inmate treatment, even as a free person who has made it her home since the infestation. She works better here just as she was in the comics.
I really hope at some point they return to the farm next season to retrieve supplies and we see Andrea take Dale's hat.
The real question to me is if they stretch the prison and later the Governor story into two seasons (there is plenty of material to do it) or condense it all into one that ends with Lori and the baby getting killed and Rick and Carl escaping to the woods. The other thing I noticed is they have seemingly traded Dale for Herschel here which isn't shocking if the actor who played Dale wanted out then I suppose they had no choice. Still sucks.
James Patrick

Great episode.
But they have to stop writing Lori a different character every episode just for the sake of conflict. People blame her because she comes off like an idiot, but blame the writers. How the hell could you even justify how she acted at the end? And even the others. After everything Shane did, and with what everyone knew, and under the circumstances of how he was killed, it really should have been, "Of course you fucking killed. I'd have killed him too." Be conscious of the audience's place.
I enjoyed that Chris Hardwick brought that up during Talking Dead. Kirkman, I think, tried to answer it by saying something along the lines of her being upset that she caused the fallout. Personally, I thought it was a copout. The way that scene was played, Lori was pissed.

I thought it came off like at first Lori was shocked that it might have been her fault for pushing Shane over the edge and causing his death and that maybe she thought Rick was being a little gloaty about it (he was) and later on it seemed she was pissy with him because he seemed to be turning into Shane (he was).
Well, season 3 premiere should tell us a lot on that front. I just don't see the gray in this -- it was either Rick or Shane, and well, Shane started it. Rick finished it. Pow.
Heh @ the type of job it would be to play one of Michonne's pet zombies. "What did you do for work today?"
Man, I bet you don't even need to be a real actor. Why couldn't I get that gig?

The difference is that Rick is being very logical in his determination to take charge. Shane was motivated almost entirely by his unhealthy obsession with Lori.

It's a big contrast from the comics, where Lori spit on Shane's grave after he died.
I thought Lori was more mad about Carl being forced to shoot Shane, but it's easy to see why it didn't come across that way.

"I want you to kill Shane" "Why did you kill Shane?" what the fuck Lori? I think it's time that T-Dawg uses a you know, a real name. Everyone needs to leave Rick alone. He killed someone who has tried on a couple of occasions to kill him. Loved Andrea in this episode. Oh and Michone!!!!!

My problem with Lori: she seemed so upset when Rick told her it was Carl who took down Shane. And then she got all pissy face...
She should have been mad at herself. Carl's been wandering off on his own ALL FUCKING SEASON. Maybe if she was a bit more of a mother to him (and I know that's how she is written) she'd be mad at herself!

minor nitpick: they spent all that time boarding up the house, and when the zombies come they go 'the house won't be safe', and they burn a barn and run...and the zombies completely ignore the house.....yes, one could argue they would tear it down if their were PEOPLE in it, but how is a zombie going to know unless he checks..it's not as if Hirshel and Maggie locked the door......
I want Daryl and Carol (the names of two fraternal twins I knew as a kid) to have a baby named Cheryl.

Man, what a great episode. Loved it, loved it, loved it.
First off, I really like that Rick has kind of an inner circle forming. Daryl and Hershel both came up to bat for him big when the rest of the group started doubting him. They really respect the guy, even if some of the others can be too dense to realize what Rick does for them.
Speaking of Hershel, I thought he was zombie food, last night. I was happy to see I was wrong. I'll gladly take him in the Dale role.
I like how some of the characters have grown. This weekend, I watched a few episodes from season one, and it's amazing how much Glenn and Daryl have both changed. Daryl has come a long way from the obnoxious racist he once was, and I love that. The writers still have fun with letting him sneak in a throw back line or two. His comment to Glenn about knowing he was still alive "because his turning signal had been on for the last ten miles" (I'm paraphrasing) had me dying. I'll second that I don't want him to end up with Carol, though.
As for Glenn, it was interesting to see him be a man and protect Maggie over all else. I liked that.
I thought Andrea was zombie food, too. The cameo blew me away. I thought it was gonna be the Governor or Merle that found her at the end, if she got past the walkers.

Daryl and Herschel stepping up for him was huge, but I can understand why they'd be pissed about him holding back that info. I think once they've had time to process it a little more they will be more understanding, but I think that initial reaction is justifiable.

But Daryle knew that Shane killed Otis because Shane came back with Otis's gun.
Remember a few episodes back when Daryle snapped at Lori when she asked him to find Rick at Herschel's bar? She asked him again last night to get Rick, and Daryle didn't hesitate because he knew Shane killed Randall.
Loved the episode and can't wait for next season!
Does anyone know if Kirkman has any thoughts of finishing up the comic in 5-6 years? I'm just wondering if we'll see his intended ending of the whole story in the TV show before we read it in the comic.

THR: What's Lori most upset about, that her husband is a murderer, that he killed someone Lori loved, Carl's hand in Shane's death or that he finally revealed that everyone's infected and he's been keeping it a secret?
Mazzara: All of that is going through Lori's mind. Rick murdered Shane and she did confess she had feelings for Shane. Her son was a part of it. They're all infected. Is her baby infected? We're out on the road, where is she going to give birth? What happens if the baby dies? What happens if she dies? All of these questions are going through her head. The thing that affects her most is that she played a role in Shane's death. She put those two men at odds, she whispered in Rick's ear and then she talked to Shane at the windmill. She realizes that this has been over her, and in a sense she has been an active participant in Shane's death. So she can blame Rick for that, but she's horrified by her own culpability.
Kirkman:Rick is doing all of this to protect Lori and Carl and at the end of this season, it looks pretty clear that he has lost them by doing this. Lori doesn't want anything to do with him. Carl is very upset when he finds out that Shane was murdered. Rick is not going to be in a good place moving forward.
Pretty good article.

You kind of need teeth for that. My three month old couldn't chew her way through a wet paper bag.
By the way, wet paper bags make awesome babysitters for infants.

I like that the people who do the least complain and overreact the most.
When has Carol done ANYTHING of use? Never? And yet, she holds Rick more accountable even though, you know, he actually does shit and has a role. Making sandwiches isn't a role.
And you can blame poor writing. But I just think most of the characters on this show that I watch and enjoy are idiots.
Many characters on television and in movies are idiots. That's where Roger Ebert's theory about the "idiot plot" comes from; if any character stopped acting like an idiot for five minutes, the entire plot would fall apart.

Wait, the show folks are now saying Rick MURDERED Shane?!? Under "normal" conditions what Rick did could be argued as self defense and when he told the story he didn't say anything that could make it sound like he murdered Shane. In fact he stressed that he had no choice and Shane was going to kill him. Huh.

That's what I was thinking. Seems to me like the writers are just as clueless about the situation as the characters are.

In an interview on GeekTime last week, Jon Bernthal said that he wanted to play the scene differently. He wanted Rick to pick up Shane's gun after the fact and find that it was empty. Then he would know that he was never in any real danger and Shane really wanted Rick to kill him the whole time.

Doesn't that suggest that Shane wanted Rick to kill him anyway?
Because if you rewatch that scene with that in mind, it can definitely come across that way.
That's what I was thinking. Seems to me like the writers are just as clueless about the situation as the characters are.
I think they just tend to disregard the internal logic of the world they created in order to force the characters into situations that they think would be interesting.

I really wonder how many people are buying the trades because of this show and getting upset at the lack of T-Dawg? Do they open the first, or second, trade and say "Oh, hells no! Where's my T-Dawg!"
Was there ever a plan for all of them to meet up back at the high way or was that just a psychic feeling that Lori suddenly had?

It was the only place that made sense. If nothing else there were some supplies there...

Probably not, since they get Tyrone.

I dunno. Seems farfetched that she would say it with search certainty and I doubt they were looking for supplies since they didn't actually look for any supplies once they were there.

I would think that even those dopes would have some sort of contingency plan after Sophia. It was just discussed off camera
There was about 27 minutes of goodness in that episode. The rest was blegh.

It was the last place they were all together as a group prior to the farm.
Logic would say that, even without any contingency plan, people would just go back there. They weren't looking for supplies, but they all left a supply drop there for Sophia, so it was clearly a point of interest for everyone that they all knew the others would know about.
It's not really farfetched at all. Seems like something anyone would do when lost.. go back to the last place you all know.

Again, really love the pairing of Maggie and Glen.
Alot of it has to do with Maggie being insanely cute but one of my favorite moments was seeing Glen tell her to pull over and he manned up.

I dunno. Seems a reach to me based on the fact that their a wld panic to escape but they all seem to clearly think "I bet everyone's waiting at the highway, because that was the last place we were all together."

The chaos of the heard battle was strong. Most of Andrea in the woods was pretty good. And Rick telling Lori about Shane's bitch ass was pretty good. Everything else, I could do without. And my heart is the color of diamonds at midnight and twice as hard.

Strange how a whole herd would follow a helicopter but they couldn't track a hillbilly roaring around on a chopper.

Their hearing, like their sense of smell, is notoriously dependent on the needs of the plot.

It's not like they were tracking the helicopter, something loud caught their attention and they started moving in that direction for weeks. They weren't hot on the choppers heels or anything. They might initially start following the bike, then when Daryl turns left a mile or two down the road, they keep walking straight.
It's like when my wife goes into the garage to leave for work. My dog thinks she sits in there for 8 hours and will scratch at the door, sure that she has tracked her down. She has not.
