Figured I'd put my hat in for nostalgia movies.

Still holds up for me anyway. One of my favorite movies of all time.

That Wolfman transformation in the phone booth is one of the scariest, most awesome wolfman scenes in a flick ever.

"Heeee'ssss gonna kill your son! AAAAAA!"

"BO....GUS!"

"Wolfman can't drive a car, he's not like a guy!"
"What are you talking about? He walks around! He wears pants!"

It was only during my last couple viewings of this film that I came to realize how much I like Sean's dad in that movie. I like the way they play his relationship with Sean and the banter with his police partner is great too.

Monster Squad is a movie that works in that just because it the movie has kids in it, doesn't necessarily mean it has to be a kid's movie. Sean's dad was great.

"Yeah? Look in my eyes! LOOK IN MY EYES!"

Wolfman has nards.

I don't know how many times I said that growing up. Shit, I'm still saying it  I never dug the end of the movie though.

I thought the ending was the shit.

Wolfman gets shot after surviving a stick of dynamite down his pants, Horace kills the Creature with a shotgun, Dracula gets sucked into limbo by Van Helsing after giving Sean a thumbs up, the army actually shows up, and Rudy gets to be an all around bad ass.

Never saw this and every time I hear its name I make a mental note to check it...which I do again now.

The ending makes my wife sad.

She doesn't like it when Frankenstein has to go away.

Parts of this movie are really unexpectedly adult and poignant.

Scary German Guy being a concentration camp survivor, for example.

I agree with most of that. I just don't like the vortex and Frankensteins character. Monsters with big hearts suck.

The classic line for me will always be:
"Kick him in the nards!"
"Wolfman doesn't have nards!"
*kick*
"Wolfman has nards..."

Frankenstein pulled my heart strings more than once in that movie, I loved him.

"Scuh.....Scary!"

I've revisited this twice in the last four-five years.

It's not a good movie, but it's easy enough to watch.

"What'd you say faggot? What'd you say?"

"We're here on the street to ask the age old question. Why is fat kid so fat? Fat Kid?"

"Hey EJ, you dropped your candy bar."
"Its not mine."
"It is now, eat it."
"Rudy come on..."
"EAT IT!"
*Crowd of kids behind him as EJ eats it*
"EEEEWWWWW!"

I loved this movie as a kid. I watched it when it came out on DVD and loved it all over again. My wife hadn't seen it before, and she said that she completely understood why it was my favorite movie when I was little.

Don't forget, Shane Black wrote the flick. Also, grown-up Phoebe's pretty cute. Do I feel creepy? I feel creepy.

Such a great movie. I agree that Sean's relationship with his dad and creepy German guy being a concentration camp survivor were both really well done

Makes a great double feature with The Goonies. Two of the only 'family' movies where the kids actually act like real kids.

I saw Goonies and Temple of Doom in a double feature at a drive in when I was a wee lad.
