I make my own Ringtones with Audacity.

The regular ring tone is "Astro Zombies" by the Misfits, with two or three other random ones for various people.

My ringback tone is currently "St. James Infirmary Blues" by Cab Calloway.

And I too, use Audacity to make my ringtones. With the new beta version allowing you to export straight to m4r. it's great.

OK. I didn't know you could do this. Then again, I've never played around with Garage Band. How do you do this? Is it pretty self explanatory once I get into Garage Band? What constitutes a non-protected song? Help! I'm not terribly great with computers!

I have my iPhone set to play the Raiders Of The Lost Ark theme whenever anyone from the office calls. And the Superman Main Titles is my default ringer. Gotta love that John Williams.

For a good portion of last year I had Alpa Chino's "I Love Tha Pussy" from Tropic Thunder, which was a hit at work.

I use the Veronica Mars theme for calls, the How I Met Your Mother theme for texts, the Wonderfalls theme for voicemail, and the Farscape theme for alarms. I also have the Angel theme, the Batman: TAS theme, the Bones theme, the Dead Like Me theme, the House theme, the 24 CTU ring, and "nuclear launch detected" from Starcraft, either for specific friends or to play around with when I'm bored.

I like TV theme songs. :)

I got most of them from this site: http://www.laloidesseries.com/index.php. It's in French, but pretty easy to navigate. They don't have everything, but they have a lot of them.

Open garage band, if there is a track in there already delete it. Drag in a song from your music folder or iTunes or wherever. At the top above the track is a little yellow orange slider. Slide it out to the part of the song you want. You can extend the edges if need be of that slider to get the full length of time you want. Then in garage band go up to the top and choose Share>Send Ringtone to iTunes.

If the song clip is too long (basically whatever the area of the yellow section is) it will give you the option to adjust it. The ringtone is then in iTunes ready to sync.

Non-DRM songs include nearly everything purchased from iTunes since April or purchased now. Or anything previously purchased from iTunes+ or if you upgraded your library to turn previously purchased song DRM free.

Inside iTunes, if you look at your library in list view it will tell you whats protected and whats not.

So far this is the easiest way I've seen to convert purchased music from iTunes into ringtones.

I've been using The Turning from Oasis for a while now. Been meaning to change it but haven't gotten around to it. The Blackberry Storm lets you use MP3s as a ringtone so I just use an MP3 Splitter to pick the part I want.

I make all my ringtones by editing the song info and trimming it down in iTunes and then convert it to MP3 to make a smaller copy of what I want and then email it to my phone.

Right now I'm rocking "Training Montage" from Rocky IV by Vince DiCola as my default ringtone, with "You're The Best" by Joe Esposito, "The Touch" by Stan Bush, Shane McMahon's "Here Comes The Money", "The Opposite of Hallelujah" by Jens Lekman, "The Imperial March" and the "Friday Night Lights" theme song as personalized ringtones.

I also have the Transformers "More Than Meets The Eye" sound and Kevin Garnett saying "Anything's Possible" and "What can you say now?" as alert tones.
