I dunno. The problem is that a lot of the bad ones people will come up with weren't neccesarily the fault of the casting. Like the guy who played Doom, was the problem people had with Doom in the movie because of the casting, or because of what they did with the character?

Ah, well I haven't seen him in very much so I can't really judge :)

But to throw a non-Marvel example out, Batman and Robin could get a lot of shoutouts in a DC thread like this, but to me the casting was solid. The problem was the movie was crappy :)

I went into the FF movies with low expectations. I watched both of them back-to-back for the first time last year.

And by god, I enjoyed them. I was pleasantly surprised, and really don't get all of the fanboy hate towards these movies. Films like DD, Ghost Rider, Hulk 2003, sure I can see. But FF 1 and 2? No way.

And honestly, you know what my favorite part of the FF movies was?

Doom.

Sue Storm was always drawn as a Grace Kelly-type blonde bombshell. Someone like January Jones from Mad Men would have been perfect as Sue, instead of Jessica Alba. And she looked even worse in the second film, somehow.

I agree that Julian McMahon was a lousy Dr. Doom, and I didn't like the actor who played Reed, either. He was too young or too dull or something.

Bad choices all around for the FF movies.

They bleached her hair in the second film or gave her a really blonde wig, or something.

It didn't look too good.

This is sad.

My vote goes for the regularly god-awful Tobey McGuire as Spider-Man.

I can't think of one great cast choice of actor/ress in that entire series. Maybe Alfred Molina as a pretty solid Ock. Dunst, Grace, DeFoe and Franco, Dallas-Howard were all wrong for their characters.

Most of the choices I'm seeing on here seem to have more to do with the part as written and/or the direction than really being the actor's fault.

Oh and Galactus WAS in FF2 and not just a cloud of dust. When Silver Surfer confronts him at the end you can see the outline of the helmet in crackling energy within the swirling debris.

I'm going to side with the "It's-not-the-casting-it's-the-direction/script" faction.

Angela Bassett in her prime couldn't have made that "Toad struck by lightning" mess work.

I just watched the Tom Jane Punisher a few nights ago. I still think he was the truth as Frank -- and I haven't seen War Zone yet. Would've been nice to see what would have come out of it if Jonathan Hensleigh got the cash to direct his original screenplay.

If I did have to make a lead role casting change, it would have been for a young Brad Pitt instead of Affleck for Matt Murdock.

I think she could've. It's widely known that Whedon never intended that line to be uttered with such solemnity, it was a tongue-in-cheek way of taunting Toad. I bet Bassett, an infinitely better, more intelligent actress than Berry would've seen it clearly...
