Kiefer Sutherland is expected to surrender to the police on Thursday to answer a complaint by a man who said the actor had assaulted him at a nightclub in Lower Manhattan, the police said Wednesday.
Investigators do not have a warrant for Mr. Sutherland’s arrest, but they have spoken to his lawyer, who “made indications that his client will surrender” at the First Precinct station house, said a law enforcement official who had knowledge of the case but was not authorized to discuss it.
The official said Mr. Sutherland, 42, has not been arrested, but could face a charge of misdemeanor assault when he surrenders. Mr. Sutherland, the star of the Fox television drama “24,” has had previous brushes with the law, including two arrests for drunken driving.
Mr. Sutherland and the man, whom the law enforcement official did not identify, got into a dispute about 2 a.m. on Tuesday at a bar in the Mercer Hotel in SoHo, the official said. Investigators said they believed that the altercation arose when Mr. Sutherland objected to the man’s close proximity to a woman Mr. Sutherland was speaking with.
The official said that according to the man’s complaint, Mr. Sutherland “head-butted him in the nose, causing a small laceration.” The man refused medical assistance when he filed his complaint, the official said.
Yeah, I'm starting to think he believes he is Jack Bauer. :lol:
