They were visionaries. Explorers. Imaginauts. They were Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. And like their creations - the Fantastic Four - they continually strove to overcome the impossible and achieve the extraordinary. Now, the first three years of their landmark run on FANTASTIC FOUR - issues #1-30 and Annual #1 - are collected in one oversized volume. This keepsake edition also includes all original letters pages and pinups, critical commentaries, a historical overview, and other DVD-style extras - and features the best-ever reproduction of FANTASTIC FOUR #1.

I don't really dig on the silver-age. Will this really change my mind?

If I had the cash I'd be all over that...I'll stick with the barnes & noble, softcover masterworks though. Not really cheaper to get all thirty issues in the form, but at least more readily available....

Mine's coming from DCBS at a smooth $55.
Reprinting comics with the letters pages and promos is the way it should be done. I loved the old DC First Editions where they reprinted the ads and everything. All that stuff is an essential part of the comic experience.

Wait, what? They have the letters pages and ads?

The ads might distract me and be annoying, but a letters page... SWEET!

I don't think Omnibus has the ads -- but it has the letters. The old DC reprints did have the ads.
Those old ads are a riot, dude. After reading the comic, you can spend almost as much time reading those.

I'm tempted to get this, been eyeing the price on amazon since that's the only way I'm going to be able to afford it. If I was going to get into marvel masterworks this would be the way with the omnibus, only 2/3 the price of the masterworks it collects, and having the letter columns is a neat idea. I've never read the stories either and it would be better than an esstential. Limited print run too so I don't know how many will be floating around. I just have to convince myself since I was looking at digital camera's too.
Now only if they were going to a Spider-Man volume, even though I've read the stories.

I've ordered it from DCBS, but I have no idea which cover I'm getting. It doesn't really matter, obviously. I was originally kind of hoping for the original Lee/Kirby cover, as I'm not much of an Alex Ross fan, but Ross really tore it out on that one. It's a great picture. I'm a happy FF nerd either way.

Oh, I know it. I've got old comics from the 70's, or even 80's, and they never cease to entertain. The Hostess Twinkie ones are classic too.

100 dollars? Crazy. That art doesn't look good blown up. This isn't very practical.

Discounts make it all the more worthwhile! Especially considering those Marvel Masterworks hardcovers that are $50 for, what, 8, 10 issues?
