Just damn it to fucking hell!

I heard people outside screaming and raising hell this morning, but thats not too odd of an thing.. go to bring Will home and come to work and they tell me their window was smashed and several things were stolen.. none of my windows were broken, but my door was cracked open... but the doors were locked. Obviously, my son, who is autistic, didnt close the door all the way... which is a small blessing as they smashed everyone elses windows... at least I dont have to deal with that.

They took my iphone headphones, car charger, and wall charger and and my boys Nintendo ds's (which were hidden in the center panel).. but left my checkbook on the seat and two long boxes of comics in the back.

Im so mad I could fucking kick someone!

Nothing like a little personal violation to make you feel all warm and tingly inside, huh?

Sorry for your woes, m'man.

Jeffery..sorry to hear this happen but you have to be careful with leaving stuff in your car.

I learned the first time when my car was broken into and the sad part was I was in a 'nice' neighborhood, my ipod was in my glove compartment AND I was parked at a busy corner.

Learned my lesson...whenever I park I make sure ALL of my gadgets are packed up before I go where I am going.

I really hope it wasn't the new DS BTW.

That's not good. At least you and your family weren't physically hurt though. Next time, take your gadgets with you or leave them at home - the cost of replacing them is too high to have it happen again. Maybe invest in a car alarm.

Strange that they would leave two long boxes of comics and your checkbook though.

That sucks, dude. Heads up, though...

As an attorney who's represented people who've broken into cars...NEVER leave anything of value in the car, no matter how busy or reputable the neighborhood unless you leave your stuff with a rabid Rottweiler who hasn't eaten in days.

If it's in the car, it's not hidden. Glove compartment--first place they look. Center panels or any other inconspicuous compartment--second place. Under the seats--third place.

If a thief just happens along and decides to break into your car just to see if there's anything of value in your car, if it's worth anything, it's his.

If you're not in or near your car, neither should anything of value.

It's that simple.

For example, had one client, who was walking home from a party drunk, was bored, realized he didn't have his cellphone with him, so what does he do?

He ended up with 3 cellphones that night, all from one street.

Headphones, especially used, may have a fair market value of, maybe, 5 dollars or less, but fuck, dude, on the street *gang signs*, the street value may be a toke or two off a crack pipe!!!!! And pair that with a stolen walkman or ipod, shit, you got yo'self a bona fide entertainment center.

Street urchins and junkies. What logical person would think to steal headphones? I mean the headphones weren't Bang & Olufsen?

And if I understand you right they only stole the headphones to your sons Nintendo DS not the actual unit itself?

Something like this happened to friend of mine in college. The thief broke the drivers side window of his car and only stole a pair of old beat up running shoes and a cd case. Yes that right just the case to the CD. The CD was laying right there on the dash. His watch was resting there as well. And there were two brand new shirts in plastic laying in full view. Maybe it was the same guy(s)?

shouldn't you leave at least a little something, so the guy that breaks into your car doesn't end up with nothing for his hard work and wrecks it up out of frustration.

like, y'know, a spare wallet with a few bucks you carry in case you get robbed.

Thieves will bust a window just to get loose coins. I guy I knew a long time ago went down a few blocks one night just trying for unlocked doors, ended up with close to twenty bucks. Headphones might not seem like much but they could be tempting enough to try compartments for any accompanying hardware, which they found.

Never leave anything in the car.

Some loser broke a window on Taxman's Hyundai Excel once - tried to steal the Kmart stereo but didn't take anything, just broke the window. They left his electric razor and my Vuarnet sunglasses. Dumb shits.

Wow dude that sucks. I never leave anything I treasure in my vehicle out of paranoia this will happen to me. My sister-in-law and parents have each had their vehicles broken into before. When it happened to my parents it was actually in our driveway and the Police, pillars of society they are, refused to come because it was what we got for living where we lived. Real nice!!!!

Also I have to give props to you for raising TWO children with autism. I know of the challenges one endures raising a child with autism and can only imagine the strain that comes from have two autistic children. You have my utmost respect for that alone. Now I'm doubly pissed you got ripped off.

Dammit. Hope they catch them Jeffery. Did you make sue they didn't take any checks from your book? They prolly would be in to much of a hurry to do such a thing but working in a bank has made me all suspicious and paranoid. Ugh. People are real assholes.
