I just realized, all this time OML has been out and not one thread created in McNiven's own forum. Well it's time to change all that, starting with some preview pages of Wolverine #72

Brown eyes on cap not blue - so even in this reality Steve Rogers was not the Cap pictured on this page.

The Red Skull kills all Captain America's?

Good idea.

About Old Man Logan I especially enjoyed how the future looks like thanks to McNiven imagination, you can see that there is a lot of designs and details that he is creating, you can't say he is using photo ref or anything like that. Anyway, he is proving that he is a great artist with every issue.

possible last panel:

they start kissing.
the skull eats his face.
caps shield returns from where he threw it to hit the skull in the back.
cap does his "martyrdom" perk from call of duty.
the skull covers his mouth and nose up to suffocate cap.
the skull pulls off cap's mask and discovers it's not steve or bucky.

Or maybe something entirely different...

That's a terrific cover.
So, Spidey, what did you think of Wolverine 72? I really enjoyed it. Millar is one of the few writers that make violence relevant for the story.

Sir Gibby

The Giant-Sized cover looks amazing. Hulk looks truly psychopathic and almost re-invented. I think the Hulk/Wolverine fight can have a different dynamic between writers--my favorite fight between them is probably Wolv #145 written by Eric Larsen, where Logan uses the Hulk's inertia to penetrate through his skin. Thought that was a neat way of doing things.

But am I the only one who's hoping for more than just that? I realize the point of the trip was getting the money and now with his family massacred there's nothing left for him to do other than reap vengence, but I guess I was hoping for this to end up in more than just Wolverine vs Hulk Gang. We'll be left with the aftermath, and then if Logan walks out of that alive, well he still killed the President, gotta wonder if there'll be repricussions. I'm still excited and Millar has thrown me for a loop every chapter. Keeping fingers crossed he can keep going.

And maybe it's just me--great writing and I loved every page of the book--but does every Avenger have Iron Man's suit armor codes memorized? Again I still thought it was awesome, but stars and garters--it's gotta be in the new Avengers rush pledge or sumpin!

Arion

About the armor I'd say that since Logan is always a man of resources he probably had that in his mind. Probably other Avengers would not have that information.

And there will be repercussions.

With Old Man Logan's final chapter being a Giant Size, will this mean it will be more than a twenty two page story?

Instead of your usual 22 pages of story it will have probably 38 (plus the usual 10 pages of ads...).

Logan used the Iron Man suit before, in Guggenheim's run. Maybe it's the same suit, maybe Stark just isn't that imaginative when thinking up access codes.

GRRRR... They're ripping me off. All those issue 600's had 104 pages! WTF! Why couldn't they put a little more. And I'm sure some of those 64 pages are also ads, not to mention
there is "gallery of covers, background material, behind-the-scenes extras, and all-new pinups". I don't mind paying. I just wish that it wasn't 5 dollars. If it was $4 it would have been a good value, but Marvel kinda' cannibalized themselves with the issue 600's 104 pages and the $5 price.

However, I'm still getting it. Millar and McNiven have never failed me before. It'll be awesome, but I was just expressing how I was feeling a bit.... don't hurt me :)

Steve McNiven has done such a remarkable work with Old Man Logan . Since the first issue I was amazed to see all the details he included and all the creativity behind his art. Steve defined the way that future looked creating original designs and powerful images.

I was impressed with how the run ended. Would hope that Millar and McNiven return to it in a few years, although I'm sure Marvel will throw someone else at it in the meantime. I'll give Millar credit, just a good all sorts of crazy fight between the two parties. And that duster looked freakin' solid on Logan.

Arion

I think they could perfectly return to this alternative future . There are lots of stories there that can be told .

Sir Gibby

I think the premise was strong. What fight would you like to have seen the most?

The Daredevil fight probably was too one-sided. And unfortunately the same is probably said for poor Spidey. But man, that Thor battle sounded crazy. Millar and his details never fail to impress; a Mjinior that hasn't been moved in 50 years. Just amazing.

www.theartistschoice.com the website has McNiven's original artwork for sale. I got the page from 67 where Hawkeye kills the Ghost Riders but I tried to get that one page of just Mjinior also...was bitter that someone beat me to it!

Sir Gibby

About $225. The guy running the site--Spencer Beck--very easy to work with. Unfortunately, once I picked that page up, it just opened the flood gates. I've bought pages from Darick Robertson (eBay), John Cassaday and Travis Hairshire (I could find you the links if you're interested), just gave David Mack a down payment for the last page of art I'm ever going to buy. It's really really addictive, I can't tell you why!

Other than the obvious...my kid ever comes home with a nose ring, I'm going to make 100 photocopies of the reverse lobotomy, buy myself a compact bow, and screw with him. lol

It was very good. I still think they could have charged 3.99 for it instead of 4.99, it wasn't necessary to include all the series covers , for example. Same here. But you already know my stance on the price. The McNiven sketches are really helpful, since I do a bit of drawing. It's really helped me get a better facial structure.

And you said "whenever I see the real artists, I'm just in awe", did you mean to say that the original pencils give you the awe, or did you mean the actual artist?

I just meant I don't consider myself a real artist. But I guess since I've started drawing again I admire other people's work more than ever. And I absolutely love McNiven's art, whether it is just pencils or fully inked or colored ...
