It really doesn't seem like there's a lot to it. And as far as the Blu-Ray goes, the audio actually is a step down from the previous version.

I only game in to say "Does it come with an ending this time?", but I feel like you beat me to an ending joke now :)

That's okay. I'm sure there's an alternate timeline in which alt-reality NickT posts first, and alt-reality schizorabbit's post is a response to that post.

the Coen brothers were using additional killings as filler material.
There are really no killings depicted which were not in the book.

Heh. Fun, isn't it?
This has to be one of my favorites:
this movie takes out boundries that would give it a good direction and replaces it with unrelated plots that gives it a direction that leads absolutely no ware.if this movie is so great then how come almost half of the reviews for this movie is a bad review?

Extras and Packaging
This three-disc DVD comes packed in a foldout case with a shiny slipcover. Extras from the previous release are ported over here. A second disc boasts even more extras and the third disc provides a digital copy. Features include:
The Making of No Country (24 minutes)
Working with the Coens (8 minutes)
The Diary of a Country Sheriff (6 minutes)
Josh Brolin's Unauthorized Behind the Scenes Featurette (9 minutes)
Complete Press Timeline (283 minutes)
Digital Copy
Disc One:
Overall, the extras on disc one might at first glance feel like a light load, but what's here is rather explorative. Certainly, among the three featurettes here — Making-Of, Working with the Coens and Diary of a County Sherriff — a great deal is discussed, though the extras are careful never to qualify the film or offer anything in the way of a definitive interpretation.
In fact, the extras here are really a way for the viewer to process their own thoughts on the narrative, taking what little insights are offered up by the directors and performers and molding them into a personal view of what, precisely, the film was about and what individual sequences or characters truly represented. This is a complex film, one which requires the viewer to participate in giving it meaning, and the extras here only provide an aid to that effort. The rest is for the viewer to decide.
Disc Two:
The second disc continues the trend from disc one, allowing the film to speak for itself with virtually no making-of footage to be found or definitive answers given. Instead, we're treated to a brief EPK-like featurette produced and directed by Josh Brolin (at least, it claims to be produced and directed by Brolin — the Coens are notorious pranksters).
Moving on, the rest of disc two consists of press material (i.e. cast and crew interviews). There are 16 interviews total (6 interviews are audio interviews) with the option to "Call it" which randomly plays one of the interview pieces.
Each interview is pretty fun, rarely thin on insight and entertainment (Bardem is a hoot during most of the press tour). The best interviews and Q&As come from the LA WGAW Q&A Panel, Charlie Rose and director Spike Jonze's panel (which runs just under an hour itself). Just about every major network and film society gets a crack at the cast, particularly Bardem and Brolin. Some of the pieces are shallow and some dive into the story and the acting/directing process. Producer Scott Rudin as well as directors Joel and Ethan Coen even make a hefty appearance giving enough material for at least two commentary tracks.
This is truly a remarkable collection of interviews (running nearly 5 hours) that should keep fans more than a little busy. Impressive.
The video interviews include the following: "Lunch with David Poland," "LA WGAW Q&A Panel," "EW.com Just a Minute," "Variety Q&A," "ABC Popcorn with Peter Travers," "In-Store Appearance," "WNBC Reel Talk," "Charlie Rose," "Channel 4 News" and "Spike Jonze Q&A."
The audio interviews include the following: "NPR: All Things Considered (2 segments)," "Creative Screenwriting Magazine," "KCRW The Treatment," "NPR's Day to Day" and "NPR's Weekend Edition."
Disc Three:
The final disc is a digital copy of the feature.
Score: 10 out of 10
The Bottom Line
A wonderful, complex, tautly-suspenseful chase film is perfectly preserved on this high-class three-disc Collector's Edition.

Wow. People are really going on about the violence in the movie. Was it really that violent? I don't remember it being that bad.

I just traded my copy of this movie in today anticipating the blu-ray collector's edition upgrade. The interviews and commentary are guilty pleasures for me and I'm psyched this movie finally received a more comprehensive two disc release. I can't wait to get my hands on it.

The brothers have done a few.
Definately on The Man Who Wasn't There (with Billy Bob joining them), and I think they did one for Blood Simple, but I'm not positive.

I have first version on Blu-Ray. Has anyone else had a problem with the audio being insanely loud at times, then almost whispering at others?

It struck me as quite violent. Not constantly splashed with gore or anything, but pretty harsh in its depiction of violence, and also very sudden with it. I might liken it to Reservoir Dogs - a fairly limited number of violent scenes, but they're all pretty damn intense.

The opening five minutes or so uncomfortable to watch. It's, like, "Hey, this definitely ain't gonna be Raising Arizona funny."

I think I've only seen it once, but the violence seems to explode at any moment in it, so it gets to a point where I was tensed for it to happen constantly. The scene where Chigurh intimidates the old timer at the general store is particularly painful to watch - just because of the threat of violence.
I should point out I intend this all to be very complimentary. It's a very good, very violent film.
