Isn't putting AOL on a Mac like buying a nice house and putting lawn chairs in the living room?

No. This is more like being given the ship from Flight of the Navigator and immediately slapping on a sticker of Calvin pissing on something.

Okay, I'm probably not getting a joke here. So forgive me if this is a dumb answer. But I have AOL. I think you have to have a FAVORITES already, even if there are three things on it. Then put the new FAVORITES file (on disc) in your DVD/CD drive. Then you click on the "Manage" button at the bottom of your FAVORITES list, and then click on "Replace My Favorite Places with a Favorite File."

If that doesn't work, you might have to call AOL technical support, if you still are getting that for free.

Sorry again if this is not being helpful. Like I said, I'm really bad at getting message board humor.

Maybe you should try CompuServe instead.

i didn't think it could get better than TheKraken's response, but damn... i was wrong. although, i think it's almost more like being given the ship from 'flight of the navigator' and immediately installing AOL on it.
