It's been on almost every weekend, and each time I'm flipping through the channels, I catch that scene of the movie.

I LOVE that scene.

I thought that Kevin Spacey was a great Lex Luthor and he had some entertaining scenes.

It's a shame too.

Singer was on the CUSP of a great Superman movie.

But he had to get his Donner circle jerk in first.

Well he certainly did a better job then The Seven did in The Boys, thats for sure.

It IS a shame. Kevin Spacey could have been a terrifying, sadistic, evil Lex Luthor - and instead we got a Gene Hackman rehash. I dearly hope that they reboot the Superman franchise with Birthright as the model.

I love Spacey, but he was saddled with a ridiculous, non-sensical plot.

Ha, you wish. ;-)

There were stories that they had to CGI-reduce his crotch bulge.

Of course, it could have been all fake rumours.

Try Ennis' The Pro (which he self-plagiarized for The Boys). IMO, soemthing even more fucked-up happens to a plane in that.

Yeah, I just read it the other day, and my jaw dropped.

I read The Pro a couple years back. And I don't remember it having the emotional pay-off as that issue of The Boys. Not to say I didn't enjoy it. I just don't remember my jaw dropping in quite the same way. Just cause it was crazier doesn't mean it pulled everything else together in quite the same way.

Again, I meant what happened to the plane and only that

Having super-ejaculation explode a commercial aircraft in 2002 was ballsy and hilarious

I totally agree although that Parker Posey car scene was right where I used to work so I can't hate that movie.

Ah yes. I suppose taking into account the timing and such, it was pretty fucking ballsy.

Superman Returns was a great movie that was released 25 years after it should have been released. If you look at it as a Donner film that sat in the vaults all this time, it's great. (Costume sucks, though)

It was a dumb way to go in 2006 as far as successfully franchising ideas go... but for me, it's still a fun movie - and it probably works better than a hip, new Superman would.

DaveCummings

It wasn't a bad movie. The problem it had was that Singer had it tied too heavily to the Donner movies. If he would of went that extra step and made his own Superman movie, not an homage to the Reeves/Donner movies, it would have been a lot more well regarded. I still say that they should of looked at what Batman did with Batman Begins and start from there.

And as much as I love the first 2 Superman movies, I wished Superman Returns was it's own movie. Mainly because I wanted to see the businessman Lex Luthor which people known from the past couple of decades, and not the one that proclaims himself "The Greatest Criminal Mastermind".

Kumar didn't beat up anybody. He just stood around in the background looking like he was impatiently waiting for an opportunity to speak.
