View Full Version : It's so hard waiting for trades

It's WAY too hard staring at books on shelves like Secret Warriors and Bad Dog and deciding to wait for trade. However, everytime I do wait for trade, I'm happy in the end because of the extras you get with a trade, not to mention no ads. Who else suffers through this horrendous waiting period?

Don't go in stores and you won't worry about it. :)
Read a novel in the mean time.
I'm okay with it. I find I end up weeding out series that I didn't actually want to read anyway by waiting for the trade.

I only collect the HCs and trades. It's worth it!

I know I do. I bought the floppies for Secret Invasion cause I couldn't wait for the trade. But I love tpb/HC. You get the a whole story in one read.

I have a tough time with this when the events happen. Secret Invasion was a long wait. It was very difficult to switch from floppies, but once the trades caught up to me, it was the easiest thing in the world. No time to get to the shop and saving me money are the best motivation to switch.

i've never had a problem with trade waiting, but then it's generally been because i can't afford to make the monthly trip, and i hate having only part of a story.

It doesn't bother me at all to wait. I used to buy the floppies and then still buy the trade, but now I have pretty much eliminated my double-dipping, except for GL and Cap. So I'm saving money and getting a much better reading experience.
And I don't have to worry about online spoilers, because my memory sucks so badly anymore I have forgotten the spoilers by the time I get the trade. :)

Since you mentioned it, BAD DOG is supposed to become an ongoing, but for now we're only doing 5 issues (the first arc) and test the water. So we DO need your help buying the singles. :)
Also, here's the issue 3 cover that didn't make it into the current Previews but which I got a mere 10 minutes ago.

Some books I buy in trades, some books (mostly the main Marvel superhero stuff) I buy in singles so that I can experience the story as serialized fiction and participate in the conversation here on the Benbo.

My biggest problem as a trade waiter is that I am much more likely to be spoiled for upcoming story arcs, because for some reason I can't stop myself from going to comic book websites like this one.

I can't wait to pick up Bad Dog. I'll be getting it and Soul Kiss today.
I loves me some Man of Action.

I only wait on trades for certain mini-series (ones that are inconsequential to events or monthly series). Otherwise, I'm still mostly buying singles (I'd have a hard time waiting for those I'm still getting).

I'm buying more and more trades with each passing month because the cost of the singles is just getting too high for me to continue to justify buying them. I mean, I prefer to buy hardcovers which can be more expensive, but if you wait for the trade, you actually end up saving 5-10% of the cover price.
Fiscally, I really cannot see any justification for sticking with singles now.

... and then DON'T buy the trade, anyway. :D

Damn, Soul Kiss is already out?
Have fun with Bad Dog. I'm lettering issue 2 on the weekend. :)
