Indy writers! Have you been reading Bolts&Nuts (http://www.projectfanboy.com/index.php?pageid=boltsandnuts) with Steven Forbes? He gives great advice on the different aspects and steps to becoming a better writer and getting published.

He's recently started a new column called The Proving Grounds (http://www.projectfanboy.com/index.php?pageid=theprovinggrounds) where people send in their scripts and he edits it for you for free to help you grow as a writer.

Check out the submissions guidelines (http://www.projectfanboy.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2278) for details.

Having been edited by Steve Forbes before, I can tell you that that guy knows what the fuck he's talking about.

Maybe it's just my "Trust no one" senses going off, but someone out there offering something like this seems a little... Shady.

His advice seems pretty solid. He seems to know what he's talking about.

I read the first column, as well as a few of the articles from his Bolts & Nuts column. The guy definitely know his stuff. And it seems on the up and up. I'm thinking I'll give it a shot. :)

Agreed. I'm choosing to be wary for now.

Forby has no interest in stealing anyone's script. If you don't trust him then don't send it in. He's just offering a free service to aspiring writers, if you can't take it at that, then there's always the learn on your own approach.

it's definitely interesting, and he offers some tough love (especially in that second one).

Well if you can handle the tough love, I think it will definitely help people become better writers. It will also show you how serious you really are about becoming a writer.

I'll read your scripts, edit them, and be really nice about them for only $5 a script.

Wow, the response to this column have been great. Thanks to everyone who's been sending in their scripts, and for anyone else who hasn't what are you waiting for? The responses from the original authors sound like they're learning quite a bit just from these edits! So keep sending in those scripts! :)
