Admittedly, I'm in an insomniac stupor, but the description, followed by the awfulness of the clip...Judge all you want, but it got me.

Bwahaha!

*raises hand and waits for high five*
*remembers he's blind and won't see his hand*
*attempts to save face*
*fail*

Shit, I can see and I wouldn't high-five Seacrest. Brad and Angelina had the right idea when they ignored him at the Golden Globes.

That was pretty stupid of Seacrest, but the guy does have a good singing voice.

Before I hit play on the thing, I thought it was that guy from Mad TV (Michael McDonald, I think) doing one of his characters...

I could totally see that. The whole bit of business at the end is something I could totally see being in a sketch show.

As noted, I'm wiped, and skimming the Tyler guy's post, I somehow missed the sarcasm entirely, thinking some dude was just an ass on AMERICAN IDOL. After the first two seconds of the clip, I chuckled and got the joke in his initial post. Because of that, I assumed he'd been kidding about the high five, so when that happened, I exploded.

Your mileage may vary, but it amazed me.

That was awesome, a FAIL moment if I've ever seen one. Fucking Seacrest :nonono2:

I can't believe the editors put that in the episode :)

My wife watches, I don't, but I happen to catch that last night and almost pissed myself.

Didn't the guy say he could see a little? Seemed like he could've seen a hand in front of him.

I thought Seacrest recovered well.

It does have to be awkward for the other contestants going against a talented guy with an inspiring life story (college at 14. Blind.)

He did say that, but he also explained that when he's playing the piano, he can see the width of one key at a time, which explained to me why there was no way he could see the high five.

yeah, I saw that on tv last night and went "Did Ryan Seacrest just try to high five a blind dude?" Between that and the bikini girl, this show is conquering new heights.

What happened with the bikini girl? Is it on YouTube?

If this is what AMERICAN IDOL is like, I've been missing out!

Perhaps he only saw Ryan's middle finger, and chose to not say anything.
