I wept for McGoohan today; he's truly one of my heroes. Combining his creative impetus (the idiosyncrasies of The Prisoner) with a popular genre (TV spy drama). It's my favorite show of all time, followed by the original The Outer Limits.

The new one looks interesting; but I'm sure they can't (or won't want to) recapture the funky 60's zeitgeist. Less skeptical of a remake/re-imagining/whatever-they-call-it with Sir Ian McKellen on board, though.

I had heard at one time Christopher Nolan was working on a feature adaptation?

Nathaniel Howe, a motion designer, has the boards for the cool new Prisoner titles on his site.

And here's some interviews with folks about the new one:

Be seeing you!

wow! AMC is starting to become a player with their original programing. Breaking Bad is awesome and I hear great things about Mad Men, so I hope this is good too. I liked the original Prisoner. I hope they treat the remake a little like Nowhere Man (tone wise).

I have a lot of respect for AMC, and they did bring us the insanely brilliant Mad Men, but I have to say I hate the idea of a Prisoner remake.

For me, the Prisoner is one of those shows that's all about the total package...the off-kilter, eerie mood, the singular look of the Village, the very British nature of things, and, of course, McGoohan's tightly wound performance...

I think if you remake the Prisoner, you'd better cut all ties to the past beyond the basics and create something new from the old.

i think they are.

they're not just shooting the villiage at port merion, and building penny farthing bikes.

sounds and looks like a galactica style re-imagining
