Goddamn, are they chasing Marvel's tail or what? Marvel's logo coulda popped up, it was exactly like their intros, only not as well done. Damn. And that new logo of theirs still looks like it should say, "With Baking Soda!" next to it. DC's marketing dept. should be fired...

I want to see it, now.
Disappointing. I was hoping for something really original!
I blame the WB.

Is this a Marvel movie? and everytime I see that new Logo i feel as though i should brush my teeth.

Yeah I thought the same thing when I saw it last night. They could have been a bit more original with that logo opening.

Its funny when I first saw it I was watching the 10 minute preview and I really thought that they had screwed up and put the Marvel thing on Batman by accident. There was all this hype about it and it looked exactly like Marvel's.

That's not because of the logo, it's because you havn't brushed your teeth in two weeks.

It was designed by the same design house that did Marvel. Let's just say they have run out of ideas.

Sure the basic design is almost exactly like Marvel's.... but DC's logo is done in glorious, eye-popping black-and-white.

It may be a bit of a rip-off, but what's with the art they chose to fade between? I didn't recognize Batman, Superman, or any of them.

I think Marvel's is the same way. You can't make out any specific characters.

I'm going to guess that there wasn't enough to bitch about for the actual movie, so you guys had to focus on this. :D

I liked it, but there's plenty to bitch about. Naturally, it just came out, so you've got to wait for a while before people realize that there's no such thing as a perfect movie.

I've pointed out some problems and logical flaws...but no one seems to be biting.

It seems those with DeLarge avatars have a clearer understanding of film.

The movie's good. Best Batman movie I've ever seen, for sure. It has its flaws, but I wasn't concerned enough with any of them to figure out which threads I could post spoilers in. But I'm a graphic designer, man, this logo stuff matters to me. :D

Why? I'm honestly curious why it's appealing to you, not being snarky.

For one thing I like that DC is actually trying to have a entertainment brand. They have needed something different for their movies for along time.

See, I completely disagree. Marvel has established the comic panel thing with people. It's even on some of their trailers now. That gimmick = Marvel. DC using a blatant, poor copy of the same gimmick is basically like seeing generic soda next to Coke on a shelf. It could be better for all you know, but your first instinct is "that's a rip-off." "That's a rip-off" is not exactly a solid business move. And not only does the new logo itself look harmless enough to really be a toothpaste brand, it looks dated already. Looks like a long-dead dotcom company. There's a reason most companies don't do goofy effects on letters. It doesn't reproduce well across the board and at different sizes, for one thing, but it also just looks bad. Think of every logo you can off the top of your head. How many of them didn't feature flat lettering? Think of some of the most successful brands in the world: McDonald's, Microsoft, Wal-Mart, Coke, Sony, Virgin, etc. Simple, clear design. Compared to them, the new DC logo looks like the name of a toy line for toddlers. The old DC logo was much more unique and appealing than the current version...

With the exception of SUPERMAN, SUPERMAN 2, BATMAN, and BATMAN RETURNS, do you really think DC wants their name to be associated with any of the movies based on their characters?

No, I think that is why they are trying to update themselves. I like the older logo alot more than this new logo. I just didn't think that the opening was that much of a copy of Marvel. They are both comic companies, why not show that in your opening.

Actually, I made out Night Thrasher (of all characters!) and a whole bunch of characters when I went frame by frame...dear God, why did I admit that? It seemed like there was an inordinate amount of 90's artwork, and a good deal of Quesada work, which makes sense.
