It would be a fun project to work on someone with.

I'm really surprised how detailed lego sculptures are getting. And those are two words I never thought would be in the same sentence.

I bet that was fun as hell to put together.

Seriously.

Very impressive. My wife said, "omg... That person is not married and isn't getting any."

According to the article at least he's been celibate and poor for the last 4 years

(cause he's been working on it for 4 years and dropped 3 grand on building it)

He did win an award for it but i doubt the award was "congratulations here's some deserved pussy. "

A complete interior view of Echo base from a distance. There are a total of 50 custom lights in the base. As I have stated before, the large main doors are also motor driven. All the light are controlles by 1-9v train regulator and the doors are controlled by a second 9v regulator. The layout is 4'-9" X 10'-0" and is comprised of aproximately 55,000 pieces. It was built entirely by me w/ a little help from my 12 year old son. It has taken me about 4 years of part time building.

Kid = awesome now. Not so much in 10 years.

It's funny when comic geeks find someone else they feel like they can transfer the "not getting any" and "too much time on their hands" jokes to. It's an awesome project, and if the dude had a good time putting it together with his kid, then good for him.

I wonder if they'd be saying the same thing if it was a huge mural painting.

That's exactly what I was thinking. It doesn't take up any more space than my stack of long boxes full of comics and it's about as geeky. I'm married and sounds like this guy has a kid, so I guess he's probably married, or at least has had sex at some point. He just has a hobby. It's weird how fast nerds will turn on each other when it's not their exact kind of dork hobby...

I'm sure I do the same thing at times...oh well, whatever...

Also known as, "too much free time."

This phrase is the easiest way to tell when someone finds no joy in life.

Go find something that makes you happy, and do it.

There is no such thing as "too much free time."
