BKV and Tony H will be drawn in the comic. Yes in the comic meeting "The Great Machine" himself. I read this in trade. This series is awesome! I wonder if Bendis will make an appearance since it says other comics people will be appearing?

No way dude. Fifty issues is perfect. This is a wonderful series based on the hardcover I just got. And four of those comprising the entire series will be gorgeous.

A complete series with a beginning, middle and end. Characters that can change over time, and a superhero book all rolled into one.

Who would have thought it could be so good?

Look at the talent involved sir. How could anyone not think it wouldn't be astounding? Far as I've been concerned, I think the only book I read that has been consistently better since its inception has been FABLES, thought SCALPED is damn near there. Still though, being a top 3-5 book given the competition the past five years or so is a damn sight of accomplishment...

you...you know how the series ends?
Or did you mean issue 40?
cuz if you meant the series, well, that's kind of like the ultimate spoiler innit?

Who's the creators who contributed to the book? Fuck it, I'm buying it tomorrow anyways.

I miss BKV writing books. I mean, Lost has been super kickass since he joined, but I wish he could do more than one book at a time. He's far and away my favorite author. And I really like that he likes to give his stories ends. Much more fulfilling.

Good read.

BKV is my favorite writer in comics. I've missed him, so I look forward to the end of Ex Machina and I'll buy whatever else he comes out with.

When are the specials going to be collected?

They're collected in the regular trades. Specials 1 and 2 are in volume 4 and I think the third is in volume six.

That would be a spoiler. Please keep that in consideration for those of us who don't get to read the book until next week.

I love this book. I know BKV said he'll do more comics, but I miss when he had like 5 books a month.

This book is one of the few books that I've been upset that I haven't been able to buy as of late....I really need to figure out where I left off and see if I can catch up.

Not only that I need to pick up the Hardcover that's out along with any future Hardcovers.

I tried getting into this series along with Invincible (bought the first 2 trades of each) due to all the high praise, but both never really grabbed me.

That was me last year. I was up to like 20 something and over the summer I caught up. Great series.

Best standalone issue of 2008!

This issue is a perfect example of a comic book that I enjoyed immensely, but any non-comic book reader I loaned it to would probably have a hard time seeing the charm. Lots of in-jokes.

But again, I loved it!

I loved the issue. And after reading it, I would love to see a special done by the creative team in the comic.

This was one of the top five issues of a comic this year. Incredibly done. I swear, BKV can do no wrong.

Great issue. great last page. As others have said, one of the best issues of any comic this year. Kudos to BKV, Tony Harris and company.
Sad to see the series enter its final year, yet i look forward to BKV & crew ending this story on their own terms.

Holy shit!

I take it certain pages were actually written by the writer credited on them...?

Fantastic fucking issue.

I'm having a shit poor morning and am in a bad fucking mood, but I was smiling ear to ear reading this issue on the train this morning.

Thanks BKV and Tony Harris for brightening up my day a little.

Such a great issue, so glad it's finally out. Tony Harris explained this issue to a few of us from the board back when he was in LA in August for War Heroes. Glad to see the final product exceeded even his summary of the book.
