It was great stuff. Beautiful art and bloody good story.

By the way, Hackenbush? Those comments about the x-solits might piss people off. Those are kinda spoilery.

Awesome. The hardcover comes out on the 31st, and it is three issues for $24.99, but the art I've seen looked phenomenal.

Seriously? People would get mad about stuff that's right there in the solicits? I was not aware. I guess I'll change it.:-?

Each issue was about three times longer than a regular comic. They ran about 55 or 60 pages of story per issue. So in this regard, it's worth it.

Seriously? People would get mad about stuff that's right there in the solicits? I was not aware. I guess I'll change it.:-?
Yup. Seen it happen a few times.

I always found it funny that someone would bitch about being spoiled in a thread about solits too, but that's the internet for you.

By the way, I wasn't bitching myself. I read those solits about an hour ago. Just wanted to warn you of possibly impending bitchiness was all :)

I can't even begin to fathom. Maybe someone else close to them dies? Or it's a flashback to when Vanessa died and they made the deal for Fisk to stay out of America?

Even though I like the Thor series, I'm considering switching to Invincible Iron Man because of the price hike. I'm keeping enough $3.99 books on my pull list already and, although it's a good series, Thor progresses a little too slowly for me to fork out $3.99 for it.

Pricing Thor at that level seems dangerous to me, since it's the kind of book that could easily fall back to its old 30,000 range with the wrong creator.

WTF Thor?!!? Seriously?!?!

I had a feeling they would do this so I'm not surprised.

I'll probably take some heat for saying this but I think people who primarily buy the Marvel Heroes stuff are bearing the brunt of this price hike. If Marvel is going to be pricing their premiere titles at $3.99, X books like Uncanny and/or Astonishing should also be taking the hit along with an Ultimate title or two. Instead, only the Marvel Heroes titles are the ones getting popped for the extra buck. Spread it around a little, Marvel.

It's happening on Marvel's top selling books with high profile creative teams. I expect ASTONISHING X-MEN to be getting a $3.99 price tag.

Quesada was saying that the 3.99 price hike is just a trial thing for now at his myspace column last week. Hopefully it wont last long or at least melt down to an across-the-board 25 cent price raise.

Has any ongoing comic ever actually seen a significant (and sustained) sales bump from a movie? The only thing I can think of is the run on Watchmen when that trailer came out, and doesn't really count.

$1 on a small number of top books is probably better for Marvel and people who buy a decent amount of Marvel books than 25c all around.

Well, he said the price hike is pretty much needed, but that the trial thing is more with how Marvel is raising the prices. They are raising the prices on books like Thor, Hulk, Dark Avengers so that Iron Fist, Hercules and the others can stay at a lower price, since let's face it, a lot of lower selling titles that got bumped up in price would likely be dead and if a couple thousand people drop Thor because of the price hike....it likely wont matter due to the increased price.

1) The movies don't seem to have any real effect on sales, save for maybe a month or two at best.

2) The Thor movie being successful is far from a sure thing. It's definitely the most "iffy" of the upcoming Marvel movies.

Too many fucking one-shots and minis.

I'm sticking to my standard pull list plus the Hickman FF mini.

Woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow.

About 25 books that have the $3.99 price tage that have only 22 pages. Most of them are minis (which at first I was going to get, but now, I won't even get the damn thing in trade). Thor and New Avengers have the $3.99 for only 22 pages.

Jerks.

I know that I have written 40 pages of story for Spidey in PR... so don't look for filler or reprints there.

And really... TOO MANY ONE-SHOTS? I've been thinking there aren't enough. Weird.

Is HULK: SKAAR - SON OF HULK VOL. 1 HC any good ?

ULTIMATES BY MARK MILLAR & BRYAN HITCH OMNIBUS HC (WOW. I dont know how i feel about this. I guess its good its out there but I dont think I want to upgrade from my OHCs...not really worth it if only an Annual is added...).

I plan on getting:

-DAREDEVIL BY ED BRUBAKER & MICHAEL LARK OMNIBUS VOL. 1 HC (id love to know when we are getting Bendis's Vol.2 though...?!).

-PUNISHER MAX VOL. 5 HC (REALLY no Barracudda mini ?...).

-DEADPOOL VOL. 1: SECRET INVASION PREMIERE HC (Cause im not sure they will release an OHC for this. Jen ?).

Maybe:

IMMORTAL IRON FIST BY MATT FRACTION & ED BRUBAKER OMNIBUS HC (is this REALLY worth it ? I have no particular love for the character or Fraction. What do you think ?).

I enjoyed Pak's Hulk, Planet Hulk, WWHulk. I lasted about 2 issues on Skaar.

That run produced one of the most fun and original comics I've read in years. I have the monthlies and the TPBs, and I'm tempted to sucker down and buy this beast.

Nothing new interests me (maybe the Beland/Doe Spidey/FF one-shot), but the Deadpool/Thunderbolts cross-over sounds pretty good.

While it has only been one issue of T-Bolts under Diggle, I'm looking forward to seeing the new team and how it is formed. And Way has been impressing the hell out of me with Deadpool.

So the two books that I have the most interest in post-SI are crossing over with each other. That is pretty damn cool.

And since this is Bendis'es board I'll state that I'm looking forward to Secret Warriors too.

I'm getting there myself.

I'm seriously looking for something to grab onto in this series to justify the pick up every month but I'm having a hard time finding it.

SPIDER-MAN LOVES MARY JANE is going to be released as a 20.00 PHC first instead of the 8.00 digest.

That's just awesome. :-?

I just didn't want Bendy to think I didn't read his books too (although from what I've heard Warriors is more a Hickman book).

I've been thinking about getting on board with Deadpool. The choice was pretty much taken out of my hands. Cool. :)

I'm really excited for Thunderbolts.

It'll happen. I wish it wouldn't, but it'll happen.

Lots of 3.99 books:( But still a lot of very interesting stuff.

Couldn't help but wonder about the timing of certain events. If you notice a great many of the Premiere Classic editions are released right around the time something in the current books will involve that storyline. For example, Longshot - Longshot in X-Factor, Magik & Storm - X-Infernus, Iron Man:Demon in a Bottle - Iron Man. This time we have Hawkeye - and the Reunion and the thing that has me most interested --> X-Men Phoenix Rising - solicited now - released 6/13. Now if you read the article on CBR about the Messiah War Crossover between Cable & X-Force. It will be coming to a close in June right around that time. Could it be? Is it she? Might Jean really truely be the Messiah?!? I know I'm hoping!

So AVENGERS DISASSEMBLED: IRON MAN, THOR & CAPTAIN AMERICA HC is just an OHC? Probably means they'll do a Vol. 2 collecting the other tie-ins... Why not just an Omnibus?

Huh. My shop still has Ultimates OHCs on the shelf. One of each Volume. That would be about $60-70 tops. Don't think I'm going to go for a $30 annual, though I do generally like Omniboo better.

Oh man. I really have to resist the these omnibi...

-Ultimates by Millar & Hitch
-Daredevil by Brubaker & Lark
-Immortal Iron Fist by Brubaker, Fraction, & Aja

Those are some pricey purchases. The collector in me wants the "best" version out there but I just want to read them. Especially Iron Fist which I still haven't read.

And this graphic novel seems interesting but I have no idea what's it about:
