what's extra puzzling is trying to figure out who this is meant to appeal to.

it's clearly not meant to appeal to the adult fans of the original, and i can't see too many kids nowadays (who would be the target audience for this) really knowing enough about ace ventura to care.

I'm intrigued by the scene where he's surprised at what his hair looks like. There's also the shot of his classmate being surprised at his appearance. What if "Ace Ventura" is an energy being that possesses different hosts throughout time? The Jim Carrey host died on some case, and how his essence has taken over his child who must take up the mantle.

I looked it up on IMDB and someone claims he doesn't look like Ace the entire time so maybe you're on to something.
