I stumbled upon his sketch blog the other day and I'm just blown away by his stuff.

Here are a couple pics from his blog:

For anyone familiar with him, what books is / was he on that you recommend picking up?

I loved that book, but his art there didn't impress me much. His stuff since then is pretty amazing, he's definitely won me over.

He did the DD annual from early 2008 that I colored. Think it's 38 pages or something with him drawing Black Tarantula and DD.

And agreed. His stuff is great.

He's also a really, really nice guy. Doesn't he know talented people are supposed to be obnoxious jerks?

Aside from CAPOTE IN KANSAS, he did an arc of QUEEN & COUNTRY that's just swell.

I've been meaning to check out Queen & Country forever, but never got around to it.

I just started reading Usagi Yojimbo and 100 Bullets this month, going back and buying the first trades from each series.

There might not be anybody that uses negative space better. Guy's a huge talent.

Everybody here should read Capote in Kansas, as well. Great stuff; written by Ande Parks, with art by, naturally, Mr. Samnee.

I will second everything said in this post. He is one of the nicest guys I've met in the artist alley and his Queen and Country rocks. I've got a great Tara Chace sketch he did for my Tara Chace sketch collection but I'd definitely pay for more of his work just because he's so cool.

Hear me now and believe me later. He sits down with a blank sheet of paper and then the art you see here happens. I saw him crank out tons of sketches when he was with me on FCBD this year. Tons.

Drawing is his chosen career and he takes it very seriously. He has a silver-age quality work ethic and I've told him so before.

For those of you wondering, I actually use more of a closed line style for print work to make it easier on colorists. There's a recent episode of Around Comics where I discuss the difference between con sketches and drawing for print.

Thanks again. Glad you all are digging what I'm doing!
