This has been a topic on Adam Corolla's show this week. He was saying how you know some dude with pneumonia is going to have to drag himself out of bed tomorrow morning, hop in his Miata, and go to work just so that people don't think he's gay.
Marcdachamp

Why?
I misread the article, thinking it was proponents on the bill, not opposition.
Regardless, I think they should consider the state of the economy before calling off.

Well this way people will get an idea as how important or not important the gays are to the economy. Sometimes you have to make tough choices for social justice.

Can't they just wait until the next election? Put the time and energy from protesting and calling out of work for no reason into trying to sell the bill to the general public? That's the sensible solution.

12-09-2008, 11:20 AM
If by "fresh," you mean "I wish they'd quit their whining and go through the appropriate channels," I agree.
How is this not an appropriate channel? And how is it whining?
These are people that are saying that they deserve equal treatment. They are saying that if you don't want to give it to them they will not participate in regular activities for that day so that you see how important they are to keeping the wheels greased.
This may backfire on them, I don't know. I do think it is a valid form of protest.

There is a time for protest, and then there is a time for figuring out what went wrong and trying to fix it.
The election is over and now it's time to wait for a bit before they get something to change the proposition back on the ballot.
I can't really say I feel sympathy, though, when one of the top Californian political advisors says that they stole defeat from the jaws of victory (read it in Time).

What's funny is that in Atlanta, "midtown" Atlanta is famous for its strong gay presence--a plethora of stores, cafes, bars, businesses that cater to them. For a moment, I thought you were referring to that.

Those unfortunates will just have to bring their dog to a barber and get a female wedding planner like in that movie.

Yeah, I wouldnt be taking the chance of pissing off the bosses around this time of year anyway, what with the economy. That said, this shit never works. Remember when they had "No Mexicans For A Day" and that everything would collapse? Yeah....the nation can take a bunch of people calling in sick for one day. Look at the economy right now, a shit load of people stay home everyday sadly.

Most of my coworkers are Hispanic. I love to fuck with 'em on that. Like I'd ask one, "Hey, what's The Day of the Dead?" or something Mexican-related, and they'd say, "I'm not Mexican," and I'd say, "But you speak Mexican."
