View Full Version : So what's on your Christmas list?

Last night my mom called me asking me what I want, and like a little school boy I actually had a list I wrote up at work. When the fuck am I going to grow up?

I asked for:

Valkyria Chronicles for PS3
Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
Incredible Hulk and Kung Fu Panda on Blu Ray

From Cheegy all I asked for was a pair of shoes. The ones I have now are really starting to fall apart. Walking in the snow or rain is a real pain in the ass. I hate working with wet feet.

I keep treating myself to things with these damn online sales. In the last few days I bought Dead Space (360), The Joker trade, and the Godfather Blu Ray set. I have to stop and hopefully I will once I pick up The Dark Knight next week.

So what about you guys?

Edit - And yes I realize I should've bought a pair of shoes before any of the above mentioned items, but that's not the way my brain works. I see 41 dollars for Godfather in high def, and something says "What a deal!" I see shoes for 35-50 bucks and I think "Good Lord that's expensive!" Despite the fact I need shoes way more than I need a trilogy I already own in standard def.

That new Marvel Chronicle hardcover book.
The six Legacy Collection DVDs of classic horror films that came with a bunch of sequels too. These came out like 5 years ago, but I still haven't gotten them.

Here's the one I sent to my mom... Which feels really stupid to say at 29 years old.

Spaced - http://www.amazon.com/Spaced-Complete-Simon-Pegg/dp/B0019MFY3Q/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1228006564&sr=8-1

Socks (Short- crew length, size 12 or whatever) Boxers size XL (no need for them to have embarrassing patterns). Both from old navy.

The best value for a DVD ever. $20- like, 5 movies. Docs, Commentaries... These are the perfect DVD sets.

It sounds dumb, but if she's anything like my mother, until you give her a list, she'll keep asking you what you want, and if you say nothing, she'll just get frustrated. It doesn't matter how old you get- she wants to get you stuff for Christmas. It makes her happy. It's more about her than you, really.

A bigger mini-SD card (Instinct only comes with 2GB)
House (any season)
Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip

My mom is the same way. She almost made me and my brother sit down at her kitchen table this past Sunday and write out our lists... but I managed to convince her I'd e-mail it instead.

And... I had the hardest time coming up with stuff to put on it. I guess I'm showing my age because I'm far more concerned about what to get other folks than what to get myself.

But, after consulting with my WoW guild (I'm not THAT grown up), I came up with the first volume of Essential Avengers, a Lynda Barry book, a knitting book, money for a new coat and a red tea kettle. I kinda wish there were more little kids in the family. Christmas lists like this seem so boring.

I really want an awesome (read: NOT Mustek) A3 scanner. Piecing together the halves in Photoshop is incredibly annoying with my standard sized scanner at the moment.

Other than that? I'd kinda like Wii Music, Wii Animal Crossing, and a couple trades checked off my "wantwantwant" list.

I have an Amazon wish list (http://www.amazon.com/gp/registry/wishlist/1QYMPJTNKSUHF/ref=lst_llp_wl-go), but for some reason no one ever wants to look at that...they always want me to write it out for them. I keep up with this list, adding and deleting things from it all year just so when my mom (like all the moms here) asks for my list, I'll actually have something to give her, and then she says she doesn't want to get on the computer, just read it off over the phone.

I really want a couple of nice kitchen knives this year...like some Global knives or even some Shun ones if anyone feels like blowing that kind of money on me. But I've also listed a bunch of books (any of the recently released MMA books) and DVDs (I haven't picked up any of the comic book adaptations from this year yet, so I want all of those) and Wii games (Okami and Shaun White Snowboarding)...I'm fairly easy to shop for.

Since my birthday and anniversary are also this month, I made a big list for Colin and my mom. Because she'll ask him.

Father Ted DVDs
Black Book DVDs (Colin bought me both of the above the other day! Yay!)
Series one of Doctor Who, as it's the only one I don't have of the relaunch
Iron Man DVD
a Marc Ecko wallet to match my purse
bunch of toys
an Electric Six t-shirt (or eight) or the rockin' cool hoodie they have on their site

...it's really hard to believe that I turn 34 in two weeks. I'm such a kid.
