Their sites.

So see there is a place in this world for both.

At the risk of rotten foodstuffs being tossed at me - here
is the new Kirkman site (launched yesterday) with links to
the Invincible and Walking Dead sites as well:

People who believe this is an either/or issue are the same jackasses who believe Marvel/DC is an either or issue.

The site looks great, man. Kudos.

Are you REALLY suggesting that people stack their New Avengers and Invincible comics together, risking a matter / anti-matter explosion?

Good comics is good comics. Kirkman makes good comics. The site looks great.

That's a really nice design. Legible, Navigatable, yet visually interesting.

Can I ask how much you charge for design? Do you also do maintainence?

Have you ever thought about designing comic book reading interfaces?

Thanks

I don't have a set price, I negotiate based upon personal budget but never more than $25 and hour. I do maintenance - yes. I like to hold on to some of the choice sites I've been involved with so that I can evolve them over time. 6 years for my local comic shop, 2+ years for Jinxworld, 5 years for a local performing arts company, Montana Shakespeare, etc. I don't in most cases charge for the maintenance.

Yes, I have thought about comic book reading interfaces, however I'm now onto something else - a package that will allow creators to build and maintain their own sites (completely self-branded) with a point & click interface. I'm working with a developer and hope to have it on the web for a "name your price" download" sometime early next year. It's very cool.

"THE" Brit?

...yeah - I know, that is only on the mock-up, click through, it's gone...I don't read all of Kirkman's books...just Invincible & Walking Dead.

It's funny, I just "Stumbled" the Kirkman site a few days ago-- great design, man!
Putting up the Comic Book Script Archive I quickly learned what it takes to put a website together, and it's more of a bitch than I ever thought it'd be--
Great job man-- easy to navigate, great color choices, just an all around kick-ass website.

you should bug Kirkman to do an Invisible Daily, akin to Powers Daily (which, I believe you did)-- I continually pimp that out to people and it's gotten a few of them into Powers.

90 pages of Invincible Daily right here!

Obviously the second volume did not start as planned in 08, but who knows maybe I'll convince him to finish off the first 3 arcs as was planned.

So - why don't I send you the two mock-ups; the interface and the output. Right now we're working on the first so that we get file uploads straight and the db well established.

See it dawned on me that independent creators get crushed for time, money and effort in terms of promoting their books, even guys that are well established don't have all three resources. Then they turn to myspace and facebook and other social networking services but they are so over branded and really require a dude like me to help them along there as well. I want to simply that and let the creators market their books free from unwatned co-brands and stupid forced ad packages and so forth.
