Alex M, those pics are simply stunning. To be honest, the first time that I heard that you were gonna do this book (all those years ago) I was not too happy, I loved your Daredevil, but for some reason I couldn't see your style meshing with this character, but boy, was I spectacularly wrong.

My God, I don't even wanna imagine if some day you draw Morgan Le Fay...the SW art you have shown us so far is so stunning, and the colors so amazingly evocative and beautiful, I think I will spaz out if Morgan makes so much as a cameo in the book...your art would be so incredibly fitting for a character that deals with magic/sorcery/dark arts...

Shit, when is this book finally coming out???

It's apparently coming out in March now. Also I agree with the previous posts Alex those are very beautiful pieces.

Ha ha, it was my Halloween avatar (I need to change it). That is the extent of my photoshop skills.

I don't know much about digital paint programs, but do you use some kind of pad and brush, instead of a mouse?

Edit: There I changed my avatar back to someones crappy rendition of Cap ;)

While I am a sucker for the classic costume....that is, the classic hourglass shape on her abdomen....you're redesign is really growing on me and I cant wait for this series. Wonderful artwork.

You have really mastered the digital painting medium, Alex! Those are stunningly beautiful!

Have you already several issues of Spider-Woman finished, or are you working more closer to the schedule? You know, I would really like to see this published as several over-sized hardcovers - the European style, but I suppose it's not going to happen, at least not initially.

I really like the 2nd one posted with her mask up. The first one picture posted, I'm not really a fan of. I don't like how the gloves kind of look like there yellow, or kind of look like there not there. I do like the face on the 1st one alot though.

What about the 3rd one?

I think the body is nice, but I don't like her pulling her mask down like that. I also don't like the top of the costume to be all yellow like that. Please try to keep the costume as close to classic as possible.

I have received a positive response to the yellow top. If I asked you, you'd want it to be exactly like the old costume, probably drawn in the old style. You will have to prepare yourself for some kind of change, either attire, story or art style. I can't draw like the an old man:)

I've mentioned my opinions before Alex, but I think that the third costume looks great. Sure you can make it classic, but where would you be? Do what you want to do and if people complain because there is just a little too much yellow on her shoulders, the gloves, or something else. You can't please everyone.

Heck you should sketch up that idea of the black and white costume, then see what people think - it's more logical for a superhero spy, red and yellow aren't subtle.

The third one looks great, its not drastic but it keeps the classic look. I'd like to see your idea of a full redesign just for fun. Heck I'll draw it up just for fun sometime if you didn't mind.

My opinion: we live in the 21th century, things should reflect that. My work is mostly digital, thus saving time and paper. Costumes will have to be upgraded slightly as well.

First, I love your work, Alex. I can't wait for th Spider-Woman book!

Second, do you ever post tutorials? I'd love to see how you get some of your textures. I just re-read the first 60-ish issues of Daredevil vol. 2 (because of the Omnibus), and I'm dyin' to know how you did some of that art work.

I agree with you, just like real fashion, costumes should reflect change of the times.

I'll sketch it up later on and post it up. Do you want me to draw yours or my own? I originally just wanted to show people the idea you had at Toronto Con, but I'll do one of my own if you want.

I go to http://www.maleev.com/ about once a week (checkin' for news), and I've gone through the 'owl' tutorial...very cool!:)

But I'm hoping to figure out how you did the pencil/pen and ink texture in the DD books (and others). It's like hatching, but not quite...more random...is that a texture from painter (or another program), or do you really draw all those tiny lines?

Textures are mostly from scanned etchings I have done while in the Academy.

I like Finch's art alot. I don't think you can add something to the costume to make it better then it already is. If you are just changing it to give it your own personal stamp, then you might as well give her a whole different outfit. I will buy the comic regardless of how you make the costume. But in my opinion there is nothing you can do to Spider-Woman's, Ms. Marvel's, or Phoenix costume to make it better. I think those three have the best costumes in comics. Plus it won't be forever, somone else will change it back when your done with her.

But on the other hand, I don't know what the story is. If it makes sense for her to be in all black, or a different costume so be it. But it is true I love that original costume alot. But atleast there is some good news, she's not dead.

I will also get to save a bunch of money and stress. There probably is not going to be any art to buy.

Wow I think Finch is the best of the newer artists. George Perez is still my favorite above all others. If Finch did not grow on you, I sure the heck hope Cho didn't grow on you either.

I wouldn't mind some kind of tweak of the costume, like the stuff that Alex is showing, as long as she retains some the same basic red/yellow scheme, it's fine with me...

Yeah, she's young though and has some time to evolve - her latest cover for NYX is incredible.

I guess it's just a problem for some, I'm heavily inspired by Joshua Middleton but I am only 19 - I have time, I'm experimenting with some traditional painting. I've still to post it up, but I have a link in my signature if you want to see some of my work - the beginning stuff is for school.

Lucky you, I have been wanting to get my hands on an original, but it's nearly impossible.

Look up at some of names I mentioned earlier. You might find more points of inspiration, better mix than focusing on one artist.

About Wendling, just one comment. No love for Benoit Springer?

Cheers, Alex!
