Jeph goes into behind the scenes details of his upcoming Buffy the vampire slayer story, which ties into the ideas of the aborted Buffy animated series. As ultimatum begins this week we wrap up our current Loeb report, where Jeph discusses more detail of the ultimates vol 3, the Ultimate Captain America annual which gives the origin of the ult universe Black Panther. We also take the wayback machine to the marvel writer's summit that spawned civil war , and hear Jeph's version of how Mark Millar's story came to life

Thanks John.

Heroes will not be the same without Loeb and Alexander.

When Loeb talked about writers being in comics too long did he say Mcduffie under his breath?

Almost done with the podcast, 20mins left or so, really enjoying a looong podcast after a couple of days of 5Lives.

He definitely sounded cranky last time - John, you were having to just say 'alright...' rather too much. I hadn't read the comments here before listening so was funny to hear that others thought the same.

Just read in the header, must go and find out why/what happened with Heroes....

Keep up the good work!

Man, that's nuts. I'm still enjoying the show, esp since I'm only two or three episodes behind the US audiance (here in the UK). Think this is a big mistake.

Another great episode John. Are you planning on snagging Jeph again post Ultimatum? Just from issue one, you can tell that this really is a game changer in the Ultimate U.

Great show!

I need HELP! Jeph referred (at the beginning of this episode) to a Superman story where Supes dies of Kryptonite poisoning and his coffin goes around the universe.

This story is actually one of my earliest memories of comics. I remember reading about it in digest form when I was certainly less than 8 years old. I'd really love to find the issues for this story to get as a keepsake.

Does anyone know which numbers of Action or Superman this story was in?

Thanks in advance!

it's up to him.

Love to hear what Jeph has to say about leaving Heroes, guess we'll have to be patient.

At least it might mean he has time for Teen Wolf Three now ;-)

hi john,

great ep again. and, just to make it easier in the future, just go ahead and call me either "hardassmanagement" or "bob" when you see the "hamgmt" in a post, if that's easier (and it definitely seems to be haha) than saying what my g/f pronounces as "ham gamut" (as in, "it really ran the gamut", not "gamoot".) ;)

i saw an ny times article about heroes today, and jeph had no comment there, as did jesse alexander.

having been fired from radio jobs i loved, i can apreciate these guys not wanting to talk about it .

i'm not going to press the subject. it's up to them when if ever, they'd want to talk about it.

Just listened to this today. Loeb says 'move on McDuff', which is a misremembered line from Macbeth and an actor-y phrase meaning 'nothing to see here'.

Hey John, and thanks as always for helping us see the humans that bring us all our "dose of thunder".

I'm pretty sure Mr. Loeb has no desire (and might possibly be under a non-disclosure agreement) to revisit his exit from Heroes, but...

would he be willing to submit to another (shorter) Loeb Report, wherein we Bendis-boarders bombard him with well-wishes? And lobby for him to take over as Editor-in-chief at DC? (screw it, surely I'm not the first reader that's thought of that scenario)

FINALLY got around to listening to Pt. 2 & 3 (and my question seemed to be decent!) and Loeb cracks me up. He's not as patient as Bendis is with some of the bullshit questions, but he's funny as hell whenever he does his "Hollywood" schtick.

I think a lot of people misunderstand the guy because he's NOT Bendis or Johns and does not have that approach to writing at all. And while, in the past, he's hit or miss, Ultimates 3 was tits, I liked Ultimatum #1 and Hulk is super-fun. He's on a roll right now.

I think the red Hulk is the concentration and manifestation of all the negative criticism Loeb gets. He has harnessed it and unleashed it knowing that people would criticize him for the Rulk thus only making him stronger...

I can't say, I haven't read anything written by Loeb since 2005 I think.
