Alrighty.......there's been much talk about using the gargoyle base for other characters (i.e. the black costume Spiderman.) Personally, I liked the idea of a new Red/Blue Spiderman piece with some height on it, as it could ideally be displayed with the Green Goblin FS.
I always felt the original Spiderman leaping-off-building statue was a bit small (physically) compared to the other FS pieces. I use it, however, because it is the same height as Green Goblin.
Considering Bowen created a new and improved Green Goblin statue, isn't it about time for a new and improved Spiderman piece?
This was my rationalle in the gargoyle thread, but it was easily lost in the commentary.
Just my 2-cents!

This was Randy's idea awhile back. I'm not overly adamant about which base, but I really hope the pose remains!

I like the pose, but I want a tall enough base that he's lined up with Green Goblin.
Don't you agree?

I envision Randy's Romita Sr. pose as the centerpiece to a Bowen Amazing Spider-Man collection. Spidey would be in the middle, while his villains, Green Goblin, The Lizard, Mysterio, Venom, (and hopefully) Hobgoblin, Electro, Dr. Octopus, and Electro are lined up on either side of him. I'll have to fit Mary Jane in there somewhere as well and hopefully the proposed J.Jonah Jameson mb!

The Romita Spidey pose could easily be mounted on the Gargoyleinstaed of the brick pile. The gargoyle's face even looks a little like the Green Goblin.

That gargoyle is going to become the de facto base for Bowen Designs products!
Good thing it kicks ass.

Hells yes! At the moment, I don't have a Bowen FS Spidey and have not hunted one because I am waiting to see this piece done. Its a serious hole in my collection.

Should a Romita Spidey pose be placed on a Romita Sr.-like base, since it's an era-specific Spidey? I don't remember any gargoyles in the backgrounds when Romita Sr. was drawing Spiderman. . . nondescript brick walls were usually the background imagery. Does anyone have a Romita Sr. example with gargoyles? I think gargoyles were used more in the 80's, and this particular base is perfect for the black costume version of Spiderman.

I'd very much like to see a new modern spiderman in museum pose.

Do the new Spiderman's depend on an extenstion?

Yes and no. I'm going to sculpt it regardless of whether we get the extension, in the hopes that we do get it, or it may end up being a last minute site exclusive. Worst case scenario would be that I have just the one, and I sell it on Ebay or something.

Why not do that for Doc Ock and electro as well. Seriously, two villians to surround the new Spidey and worst case they're site exclusives.

That action pose, with Spidey leaping off the wall amidst gunfire, was awesome.
I'd potentially buy that. :)

I'd love to have a Spidey clinging to the side of the gargoyle, defying gravity. But that might not display quite right. There just isn't a good Spidey statue out there that showcases his "clinging" ability very well. That power is something that is very important to the character. It really shows his "spider-ness".

I actually don't think the Romita action Spidey would go well with the Gargoyle base. Frankly the base would detract too much from the piece and would make it too big to fit with his rogues Gallery.
I aslo agree that Romita Sr. and Gargoyle don't go together.

If you're going to pose a Romita Spidey on something as big as the gargoyle, I'd make the base a large water tower cap as that is what Romita Sr. included in a lot of his art.
