Would you people prefer:
1) a simple museum base, w/ elements that suggest the characters powers?
-or-
2) A battle damage rubble base like the other Spidey villains?

Doc Ock needs the rubble/destruction base! whenever he shows up buildings are coming down. Electro i'd be happy either way as long as they are made!! Thanks Randy!!

for the doc i would say rubble. I liked helders idea for electro, him holding a power cable
dEnny!

I'd love for these pieces to work together with other Spidey villains like Rhino, Scorpion, and Venom.
I think Doc Ock needs the rubble; he's not good looking enough to be in a museum. :D

YIIIIHAAA!!! Nice to hear that Randy!! I voted for battle damaged bases , like the idea of Helder for Electro, you can sculpt a hole on the street where some electric cables go out.

Randy,
First off... Thank You. :D
Secondly, I would love battle damage bases like the others. In Electro's case, I think the base could still be kept small (mysterio's isn't that big).
If Doc Ock needs to be museum for it to be made, then I'm all for it.
What an awesome thread to find on a monday morning.

Either would be fine, but I'd probably prefer the Barney Rubble base more in keeping with the other villains.

Not picky on Electro, but I'd like some rubble on Doc Ock's
Simple museum will be fine with me. Then again......Electro is the only one I'm interested in.

I'd like to see some battle damage awesomeness to be displayed with the other villains.

Hey Randy, are you sculpting the Doc Ock? Can you give me an example of battle damage rubble base? I chose the simple museum base because of the key elements!

I just don't want Doc Ock to not happen because posters are demanding a specific pose that could cause breakage.
If Doc Ock can only be done safely in a museum pose... I'll take it.

Simplicity for Electro, rubble base for Doc.
Why? The others have a rubble base. Why would you want one with a simple base??

Not Mysterio. I'm all for rubble, but I want to put these guys all together, so if there is an opportunity to save space, I'll take it. Can Electro have a small rubble base?

Not Mysterio.
He still has something going on with his base. Shouldn't Electro? The base doesn't necessarily have to be as big as the Lizard's base.

I won't complain either way - I love the Spidey bases so far... just thinking about my dwindling space.

I voted for a simple base that has character elements. To be honest, I don't see any kind of battle damage/rubble motif throughout any of the previous Spidey villains, save for The Rhino. The Lizard has a sewer base, which fits his character. Green Goblin has a his smoke trail and fire. Mysterio has his classic entrance smoke. One Venom is a sewer base, the other the top of a building.
Seems to me you have basically given a mix to the characters. Perhaps you can accomplish both battle damage and charcter traits in the base? Maybe Electro could be on a destroyed transformer or damaged electrical equipment?

True. . . but you're forgetting Kraven on brick rubble, Scorpio also on brick rubble, and Carnage on a brick wall.

I would take those two any way I can get'im.
But generaly I agree, simple base for Electro and some kind of brick wll motif (brick rubbles on the ground) for Doc Ock.
The key issue for me is the size of the bases. For me, the smaller the better.

Randy,
I usually don't buy doubles of statues, but if these two are coming out, I would probably get another Spiderman statue.
There are so many great villains to surround Spidey, I bet a lot of people will need two.
With that in mind, perhaps these bases should match whatever you have planned for the next Spidey - or vice versa
So Randy what does this mean exactly. I thought you said everything not seen was on hold until the license gets renewed. SO does this mean that
a) you are pretty close to renewing the license or
B)you're gonna work on these puppies (knowing how awesome they would be) even without any assurances about the license.
Either way, as long as you're oding them I'm happy. And like walrus said, Don't forget Vulture, Sandman and Electro.

I like for the bases to reflect the character some extent, but I also understand the desire for the bases to match up with other similar pieces for display purposes. So maybe for Electro the rubble can include a power transformer and line twisting and sparking near his feet. For Doc Ock maybe there can be a piece of a destroyed octobot sticking out of the rubble. that way we can have matching yet character specific bases.

Randy,
did you ever determine the type of pose you would use for a Doc Ock? Museum, hovering, combo of the two with one leg planted?

OMG, I cant wait to see how they look, I have voted for the rubble base to match in with some of the other spidey villians. Any sneaks on the statues themselves ?

A rubble base with Electro gesturing as if he's using his powers and in the rubble or under his foot, a piece of chain link fence and a sign that reads DANGER: HIGH VOLTAGE.
A simple base for Doc Ock with him standing and looking arrogant, as if he's boasting about defeating Spider-Man.

that would be awesome! like Electro just destroyed a power generator or something...you get rubble and electricity. Then he could be grabbing power cables from the wreckage like Helder suggested :D

Doc Ock---broken brick wall...maybe two arms holding a piece ready to throw.
Electro------Some broken wires......so he can 'siphon' another charge to throw at Spidey.
just a thought-----------------I have no clear idea what.......but the Venom 'sewer' fs has Spidey breaking the surface of the water....would like some nice Bowen magjic touch like that. ;)

you can have a rubble base for Electro and still keep the base relatively small.

Simple bases for me because it'll keep the size and cost down. I've seen many statues that have lots of detailed bases but they look way too busy. Plus, I have so many statues displayed together that I don't notice the bases anyway, that's why I'd rather have a simple base with a few elements.

Any decisions on these bases?
MeetThyReaper
11-05-2008, 08:53 PM
Rubble all the way. No offense, but I'd be upset if they didn't have rubble. There's a nice theme going on among all of the Spiderman villains.
Scorpion, Rhino, Venom, Scorpion, Kraven, and Carnage all have rubble. Even though Mysterio and Green Goblin have "smoke" I find it appropriate. GG has a flaming/smokey base and Mysterio just looks awesome...there *could* be rubble underneath all of that smoke.
Anyway, please give us more Spidey villains, Randy!
I want to be able to fill 4 detolfs with FS Spiderman villains. That adds up to 20 shelves (if you include the top of the detolfs)
So far I've got 7 shelves of Bowen villains (Rhino, Mysterio, Venom, Scorpion, Green Goblin, Leaping-off-building Spiderman, Lizard) with room for Carnage and Kraven in the future. That leaves 1 open shelf in the detolf.
Therefore, we have room for 11 more FS characters!
1.) Electro,
2.) Dock Ock
3.) Sandman
4.) Vulture
5.) Hobgoblin
6.) Chameleon
7.) Shocker
8.) Black Cat
9.) Beetle
10.) Kingpin

Sandman should definetly have a more detailed base, NYC street, manhole/sewer grate as though he was traveling underground and is now taking shape at street level.
