After seeing the "Watchmen" movie trailer, I decided go pick up the tpb. It's my first tpb and the story is amazing. Anyways after reading this, I'll probably pick up another one this weekend. Any suggestions? Marvel, D.C., Or whatever. I don't read comics as much as I use to, so I'm kind of in the dark. Thanks.

Really depends on what you like. It's all so subjective, but
here's a few of my favorites that I continue to dust off, re-read,
and thoroughly enjoy on an almost annual basis (Just to
establish my "nerd cred", I'm 37 now and I've been collecting
comics since I was about eight) :
Martha Washington (Frank Miller & Dave Gibbons, since you
enjoyed Watchmen so much)
Batman: The Dark Knight Returns
Batman: Year One
Batman: Year 100
Batman: The Killing Joke
World's Finest (Steve Rude)
Marvels (Alex Ross)
Kingdom Come
DC: The New Frontier
The Authority (only the Bryan Hitch and Frank Quitely issues though)
Planetary (as sambofred pointed out)
Preacher
JLA: Earth 2
All the Hellboy and B.P.R.D. collections
Supreme Power (Marvel)
Superman: Secret Identity
All-Star Superman (actually, pretty much anything Frank Quitely does)
Powers
Tom Strong
Clandestine
JLA: The Nail
JLA: Another Nail
300 (I actually liked the book more than the movie)
Astonishing X-Men: Gifted
Astonishing X-Men: Dangerous
Astonishing X-Men: Torn (all three from John Cassaday)
Astro City
Bone (of course!)
Battlechasers
Earth X
The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen
The Ultimates
Daredevil: Born Again
Blacksad
The Chronicles of Conan (all the Buscema collections)
.....and I'll stop there since this could take all night. Hope you
find some enjoyable reads out there! :)

Ditto all the Hellboy tpb's--can't believe i forgot those
the Whedon-Cassaday Astonishing Xmen tpb's are great art & terrific writing (troyboy has good taste)
G Perez's JLA/Avengers tpb comes out soon too
These may not be TPB in the traditional sense but they are great reads. Plus they give you a historical prespective to the MU and show you where all of this came from and why these characters are so special.
I HIGHLY recommend that you pick up Essential Spider-man 1,2,3,4
Essential FF, 2,3,4 and Essential Thor 2,and 3.
I promise you will enjoy those books like nothing you would expect.

i've picked up the Essential Defenders & was disappointed--not in the stories, but because the lack of color makes it hard to read.
i'd rec the "Visionaries" series, esp Walt Simonson's Thor vols, if yr really into the Art.

those are good. I picked up the Thor by Simonson TBP and those are great.
Essential defenders is not all that great that's why I did not recommend it.
I've picked up and read 80% of the essentials and I recommended those for a reason.
They are so good they trenscend the art and lack of color.
by the way perhaps I am overlooking the obvious.
since you haven't read watchmen let me also recommend (just in case)
the Dark Knight returns by Frank Miller.
Year one (Batman) by Frank Miller
V for Vendetta ( my all time favorite graphic novel).
Ronin- by Frank Miller. and overlooked MASTERPIECE. Highly recommended.
Crisis on infinite earths.
Palestine by Joe Sacco
Marvels (by Busiek and Ross)
Miracle man- tpd by alan moore and Alan Davis.
Kabuki- tbp's really really good
Lone wolf and cub- not a tbp but the books
Daredevil- born again by Frank Miller
Marvel visionaries- Thor by Simonson
Elektra assassin- miller and sienkewicth
I would stake my (anything and everything) on these recommendations.
oh and to be fair I enjoyed Planet Hulk and I looked through book 3 of annihilation and was very impressed.

Oh, and all the Sin City trades if you haven't already read them. They were al re-released in a new format around the time the movie came out, so they should be easy to find. The first 3 are amazing.

I finished Watchmen a few weeks ago and it was a great read. I wanted to buy another tpb, but I got hooked on to the show, Lost. I went out and bought all the seasons. Anyways I just bought my second tpb today, X-Men: Messiah CompleX. Hopefully next week I'll buy something DC.

Iron Man : Execute Program

Brubaker's Captain America series
Bendis' Daredevil series
John's Green Lantern Series and Rebirth trade
Those 3 are my most current favorites. They should give you a taste of what's currently going on in comics.

Messiah Complex was going to be my recommendation....if you are looking for DC...I would start with Green Lantern:Rebirth and then go with the Sinestro Corps War tpb which runs between Green Lantern and Green Lantern Corp....Johns is killing on this book....best book out at DC right now.
