Okay, let's show our support for the MAN OF BRONZE!
I got the O'neil/Kuberts' run on the Doc. Very interesting stuff. Haven't read passed the first issue yet, but the ending really surprised me!
Also, while leafing through some back-issues the other day at the shop, I ran into some Spider-man/Doc Savage team-ups. Does anyone know if those are worth reading?
Finally, if you haven't picked up a copy of the long out-of-print Philip Jose Farmer's DOC SAVAGE: HIS APOCALYPTIC LIFE, you really should. The main body of the book is rather dry, but the appendix is quite interesting. Just check your local HALF-PRICE BOOKS; tell 'em Kyle sent ya. (wink/thumbs-up)

Wow, I'll keep me eyes peeled.
I just finished that DC O'Neil/Kuberts run. It was great! Chip Savage is a fascinating character, and he had room for development. I can't find if he shows up anywhere else, but I kind of doubt it.
My bro asked me why there isn't an interest in the character now. I said, "I don't know, but if TOM STRONG didn't generate interest, nothing can."

I think that's the only Doc Savage I've ever read.

i think conde nast is very particular with the license for both the shadow and doc. i also think they're very expensive.

Yeah, that model is clearly working for them. What with both characters in the lime light right now, they must be raking in the sweet-- wait a second...

First cover has a nice pulp feel to it.
But the second cover is even better.

I loved Brubaker mentioning Philip Jose Farmer in the last interview. Great stuff.
I'll need to check out that Avenger book.

Wow, I hope no one is offended when I say, "I would slit my grandmama's throat for the chance to do a Doc Savage comic!"

And we loose another master. I wonder who writing SciFi now can claim as much innovation and influence over his peers as he.
I raise my can of O'Doul's to you, Pip, for it is the start of the season of Lent. But the world will never cease its fast from you....

I could generate a list, but the point being never doubt that a new generation will always progress any genre to new uncharted territories and that trailblazers still exist, even as the market for sf has shrunk considerably in the last ten years.
