sounds good. i think there are collectors out there that would be willing to pay more for special statues. as long as it was a once in awhile thing.

It woould also be about 27 inches wide and about 13-14" tall overall to be in scale.

So are you saying you can't handle it? LOL
I'd be much more into paying $500 for something like this limited to 200, than I would be a Quicksilver with light-blue shorts or a faux bronze. I also don't know if the $500 number would be even higher at a run of 200.
But you got to admit it would be cool for you and us.
Do you accept this challenge? (Marcimus throws gauntlet to the floor.....)

That would make a GREAT stand alone sculpt....
But I also want to display a FS Valkyrie with the Original Defenders and/or Lady Liberators.
The size of a sculpt including Aragorn might make a "Non-Group" display impossible.
I'd like to see a museum FS sans Winged Steed and a Mini-bust of the Character first....Please.
Maybe a "MYTHOS" edition of (RB's Vision) of a Valkyrja "Chooser of the Slain" w/winged Steed could be done..... Freyja, maybe AFTER Marvel's Brunnhilde(/Barbara Denton-Norriss, Samantha Parrington and Sian Bowen) character is completed.
If a "Valkyrja"/w steed is done as part of the "Mythos" line...it could bring the price down too.:)

No- What I'm suggesting is that YOU (the collector) can't handle it.
1) It's big
2) It's expensive
3) It's complicated and easy to break
4) It's obscure
5) Did I mention it's expensive?
All this adds up to a piece that- while impressive, will probably lose money and take a lot of time to complete. Do I still want to sculpt it? Hell yeah!
Will I? Probably not in this format...
A museum version makes much more sense all around.http://i33.tinypic.com/aexwew.jpg

SIGN ME UP FOR THIS!!!
one thing i'm really hopeful for regarding the Valkyrie sculpt is that it's clear she's a WARRIOR & not the St. Pauli girl in a Halloween costume. I'm a fan of yr Scarlet Witch fs, so i have faith you'll do Brunnhilde justice! (just don't make her arms too short or a waist too teeny to support the bust, which should be incredible)
bring it--your fans will PLOTZ!

Phil Noto's drawings, esp of Valkyrie, have a great, noble simplicity that would translate into a beautiful 3-D sculpt, in my opinion, and would marry very easily w/ Art Adams' style.

they're all winners, tho' i thought you generally preferred to base sculpts off of "actual" comic art vs pin-ups--did i hear that somewhere?
not starting an argument or anything, just enjoying the exchange.
i've been hearing about collectors/fans hoping for this statue since i started collecting, so i know whatever you do will be a hit.

Your right, I probably would only buy it because I felt like I bullied you in to it. I'm generally too conservitive in my spending to throw down $ 500 on one statue even if I want it. I do think you could sell 200, (I am continually amazed what people will buy (even from you, no offense ment) weather or not that makes it financially a positive move for you, I doubt. I do think that occassionally as an artist, you should say I'm doing this because it will be awesome.

Would anyone else be interested in a mb (variant) of the Valkyrie costumes designed by "Clea" around Defenders #47 ?? Could not find a pic.... but found this.

Does the "Project Status" thread indicate that a Valkyire statue is NO LONGER coming?
Please don't snap at me or make fun of me for asking--i recall that RB said he'd started or was going to start soon, but then the other announcement would seem to trump that.
I really hope Valkyrie will make it out, one of Marvel's most important heroines.

I'm curious...how so?
From my comic reading experience, which began in 1982 she's hardly a blip. I was a Spider-Man/DD kid and then moved onto the Mutants and Avengers, but Valkryie really hasn't done much of anything from what I can remember since I've been reading comics.
I'm not trying to dog her, but I guess I'm more into the street level characters than the Asgardians, which apparently are very popular with the guys on this board.

I love mythology and that is why I really like the 'God' characters. My LCS did a good one on me so I missed out on both the recent Thor and Lok FS, but I will get them some day. In fact, I think I am more excited about the Mythos line than I am about a next phase (yes shoot me and hang me by my short and curleys for saying such a thing)
Regardless, I am a comic geek and a supporter of Bowen Designs...so I will continue to buy what is produced and that I can afford.
However, I WILL AFFORD more Asgardians:)

Hate to say it. but ... the Highlights of Valkyrie's Marvel comics history may have occurred the decade before your comic reading started.
Valkyrie as a pawn/"vessel" of the Enchantress 1st appeared in Avengers #83 (Dec 1970). The Enchantress in the guise of "Valkyrie" brought together the Wasp-The Scarlet Witch - Black Widow - (the Inhuman) Medusa to form the Lady Liberators whose purpose was to defeat the male-chauvinist Avengers.
The Enchantress and Valkyrie appeared in Defenders #4(1974)when the Asgardian sorceress bonded the spirit of the Valkyrie (Brunnhilda) to a mortal-female host. Bonded to (Not the first or the last female to host the Asgardian spirit) Barbara Norriss, Valkyrie became a mainstay of the Defenders from that point forward. IMO only Dr. Strange and Nighthawk might have had more adventures with the many incarnations oF the "Non-Team".
One of my favorite 1980's Thor storylines( Thor#291-300) is one http://www.immortalthor.net/thor291-300.html (based on the Volsung Saga) in which Brunnhilda plays a major role.

Valkyrie was also one of the few major heroines during the 70s heyday. There were Jean & Storm (& to a lesser extent, Lorna) in the X-Men and Wasp & Scarlet Witch in the Avengers. But not too many other ladies had the impact she did--partly because she was more independent than many of the other female characters: no one's wife or sister, and she was also the only one of those named above w/ really physical powers, a real fighter rather than an energy-wielder or flyer. She was Marvel's overtly heroic woman-warrior & carried that nobility in a fun, aggressive way, while Wasp was still kind of ditzy (Hellcat, too) & the Scarlet Witch more mystical/mysterious.
that's why i was looking forward to a really noble, heroic, Thor-esque statue.

Some observations-
Randy's clearly been accumulating reference material for Val for a while - he's usually asking around for it.
Full-size will be great with a spear, but the bust (and there MUST be a BUST) should have her holding her Dragonfang sword.
I've always thought of her MUCH more as a Defender than an Asgardian.
I can't wait to get the new Hulk in my hands to see her return to the Lady Liberators - and the Marvel U for that matter (drawn by Frank Cho no less!)

agreed: Val's got such a great noble presence that even a very simple museum-pose will be very grand and powerful. i'd prefer Dragonfang to the spear, but whatever.
agreed 2: i also see her as fitting more into a Defenders' display--with Dr Strange, Namor, maybe even Silver Surfer, and a fs Nighthawk, perhaps. but i don't mind mixing minibusts with fullsize statues, so if Valkyrie is the one fs Defender we get for a long while, i would be 100% happy to display her with my Hellcat and Nighthawk minibusts. Bring on Son of Satan, Devil-Slayer, and Gargoyle (Isaac Christians)!
