I'm going to be there tomorrow, I'm screening one of our films for the cinematographer on the set of the Coen Bros' next film, and after that I have nothing to do until my flight on Saturday. Suggestions of somewhere I should go to see or eat at?

22nd avenue station-- The Double Deuce Gentleman's club.
Filthy. Grimy. Not so much stages as just a bunch of tables pushed together.
Also, totally not your scene.

The one on Lake Street? My chocolate shake wish usually trumped my death wish and I'd go there.

I'll tell you what everyone tells an overnight tourist to Mpls.
Go to SexWorld on 2nd Ave. Four floors of filth.
You'll never find a more wretched hive of cum and villany.

That's what I did when I went. Only I was showing a movie to Tony Scott's costume designer, so not as sweet, right?

You could head up North an hour or so and hang out in the town where I live. We have 6% unemployment, a quarter of the city is in poverty, and everyone hates the Somalians for getting prayer breaks at jobs nobody wants to work.
But you do have a few good bars and some hot college girl ass. Not as much as the cities, and far more Young Republicans.....but I digress.

Lots of fun stuff. Most mentioned already but if you're in the mood for a good steak I HIGHLY recommend Manny's, it's some of the best eats you'll ever have. What kind of shit are you looking at getting into in your brief stop in our fair city? Oh, and the weather is supposed to lovely tomorrow, like mid-80's and sunny.

Are you sure you're going to be in Minneapolis?
Their shoot started a couple weeks back about a mile from my place in Saint Paul (at a Key's Cafe at the corner of Lexington and Larpenteur).
It's a typical mistake made from non-Twin-Citians to refer to the entire Metro area as Minneapolis.
Either way, some fine suggestions from folk (other than the ones saying that NO there isn't anything to do here).
You could visit Dreamhaven (Neil Gaiman's Official comic shop) or First Avenue (although there's likely a concert scheduled for tomorrow night) or the CC Club or wander the Skyways of Minneapolis or Saint Paul (as made 'famous' in SKYWAY by The Replacements from their album TIM) or purchase the services of one of the fine hookers that roam the area of Saint Paul called Frogtown (the origin of said name is lost in the mists/spoo of time...it was either a former fenny area OR a location settled early on by French Immigrants...no joke) or hit anyone of the numerous museums/artsy-fartsy places or Mickey's Diner (where parts of the Prairie Home Companion movie were filmed) or the Mall of America (if gigantic shopping behemoths are your thing) or grab a pizza at the Savoy on 7th Street in Saint Paul (the parking lot of which was where Senator Norm Coleman's 80 plus year old dad was busted plooking a 30 year old in a car) and so on.

Ugh, I'm sick of mid-80s and sunny, I get that all year in LA. I wanted COLD!

The address of their production office and my hotel are Minneapolis, I'm not exactly sure where set is as someone will drive me there once I arrive.
Thanks for the recommendations!

And I as well, I think. I can cut my Rock Band 2 session early to make a brief drinkup and prove to Ben I'm not really as dickish as I might appear here (Shhhh, TIP, don't say anything!).

Fixed that for ya!
If I ever get to Minneapolis, I intend to find the Stinson's house and sit on their roof, looking bored and cool at the same time.

The Source Comics & Games -- in St. Paul right next to the fairgrounds
Block E downtown Minneapolis (across the street from First Ave as well as the Target Center) -- it has bars restaurants, a movie theater, and lots of other stuff cool stuff is downtown (within walking distance of Block E)
The Twin Cities is pretty huge....lots to do...
I dunno....what are you into?????

Can I piggyback on this thread to ask a related question?
I just moved out here from SF. My fiancee just got a job with Hennepin County, and she's following me out here in about a month. I'll be commuting to River Falls, WI (south of Hudson), and she'll be commuting to downtown Minneapolis. We're probably going to live in the cities somewhere in between (maybe St. Paul, since I have Fridays off and the reverse commute).
Any cool neighborhoods we should look in? Preferably apartments/condos/townhouses (we both have 2 year contracts, so we probably won't be buying) in a relatively cool neighborhood with some decent bars/ethnic food. I've been to Grand, and Selby (around Cathedral Hill), and those areas seem to be along the lines I'm thinking.
Thanks!

I'm a west-sider, so I really don't know a lot about St. Paul or much of the east side of the Twin Cities. But I have a few suggestions to offer up.
Como Park is a pretty nice area, it's on the far west end of St. Paul.
If you are not anti-suburb:
Woodbury is a nice suburb of St. Paul. Plenty of condos and townhomes.
Burnsville or Inver Grove Hieghts (a bit south of St. Paul) might be a nice compromise between downtown Mpls and River Falls.

There's Lower Town in downtown St. Paul, the Lake Phalen area as well as Highland Park but I think you pretty much hit all the good places
If you're up for living in Minneapolis, I'd suggest NE Minneapolis; it's a great part of town, with tons of condo's and plenty of great bars/restaurants without the pretentiousness of Uptown.

Woodbury, Oakdale, hell, even Stillwater would be perfect for them if you ask me. Short commute to both downtown Mpls AND River Falls, WI. Oooooh, or out in my neck of the woods (Mounds View, Spring Lake Park, New Brighton area) isn't bad either. :)

Thanks guys! My fiancee is a bit anti-suburb, so we'll have to take that into account. Also, I do want to compromise a bit and take the farther commute (since I'm heading against traffic). Those factors sort of squash Woodbury, Oakdale, etc., even though that is a nice middleground.
I haven't even heard of lots of those neighborhoods - I'll have to check them out.
