on the latest bendis tape, john and bendis refer to some hugely embarassing thing bendis did at a con a few years back... something to do with him making a suggestion about dc and marvel coming together for a book...

it was obvious that it was old news and they figured everyone knew what they were talking about and so they didn't go into any details, but i actually had no idea...

can anyone enlighten me?

I think the Marvel/DC thing was when Brian suggested a Daredevil/Batman crossover because it could have sold like hotcakes. I forget his exact wording but I think it irked DC's side.

(I still think it's nutty not to publish this crossover, especially during the height of the Daredevil run. If they can do a new Batman/Spawn book, a Daredevil/Batman book should happen as well)

As for Lou Ferrigno... find out here! (http://www.wordballoon.libsyn.com/index.php?post_id=243142).

What's a "search engine?" Can I find out more about this if I google the term?

dude, don't be an ass. the only thing i know about this event is that it a) it involves brian michael bendis, b) it takes places at a comic convention, c) it involves marvel and maybe dc in a crossover of some kind, and d) he's embarrassed about it.

so i ACTUALLY did do a google search but on the first page realized pretty quickly that the things i know don't exactly have high specificity as they say in search lingo...

so, uh, shock-horror, i used a message board dedicated to talking about the podcast in which this was mentioned to see if i could get insight... god forbid, we clutter this message board with discussions about what's discussed on wordballoon...

no worries robotdg...

be nice everybody. we all don't have rain man like memory of every comic book feud.

it was the dd/batman crossover to be written by then batman writer ed brubaker and then dd writer bendis.

dc was still mad at joe q for saying in a ny newspaper, 'the leaders at dc (then Mike carlin and or Paul Levitz) inability to be the #1 comics publisher with the most recognizavle heroes, were like an aging porn star with a flaccid penis'.

bendis made the plea at wiz chicago to a bendis fan panel that the book should happen.

bob wayne dc vp was in the back of the room, and then gave dc's side as to why such a crossover wouldn't appen unless joe q wasn't at marvel anymore.

bendis did a good job staying calm and reasobly nice to bob wayne, but he admitted in the next hour to another panel that the whole exchange had 'freaked him out".

After re-reading your initial post, I realized that I was in the wrong. Sorry, pal.

no problem, sorry for trying to escalate it with the tone of my reply... i can't believe a disagreement on a message board just ended cordially.

...talk about signs of the apocalypse.

oh, and thanks for link that answered the question...!

I remember reading about this when it happened. That was really uncool inturrupting a guys panel like that. Kudos to Brian for handling it as well as he did.

This is a good example on how to behave and diffuse a fight. This thread should be locked and then sticky'd.
