I've recently moved to L.A. and it doesn't suck, but will always have a soft spot for my Midwestern roots. There was recently an article in the L.A. Times about the Top 25 Movies in the last 25 years which feature L.A. in a starring role. Link (http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/movies/la-ca-25films31-2008aug31,0,70218.htmlstory)
That's all well and good, but what I want to open up to the crowd is what you think the top movies are in which the city of Chicago has a starring role?
I'll start things rolling with:
• The Blues Brothers
• The Untouchables
• The Fugitive
What else you got?

Chicago as Gotham City was pretty inspired for The Dark Knight. The city's look really fit well for the flick.

Gotta go with The Dark Knight.
Every time I've seen Chicago in other movies, it always looked sort of like a generic New York clone (no disrespect meant... if anything, I think that was sort of the filmmakers' intent). But TDK really revelled in what makes Chicago different. Nolan put his cameras in places that made the city look NOTHING like any other city ever seen on film, and I think that not only served the purposes of the movie's Gotham, it really changed the way I (and I'm sure many others) look at Chicago.

You've got a good point there.

High Fidelity - I remember people complaining that they moved the setting for the film from the UK to Chicago, but it was still incredibly faithful to the novel and it actually made sense to me to move to move to a location where Cuasck and co were familiar with the music scene.

How could you guys forget like one of the greatest 80s movies ever? Ferris Bueller's Day Off. It's got a little bit of everything from Chicago.

Another good one. High Fidelity is one of my favorite movies too. Love me some Cusak.

Those are all great titles but I'm going to predict that Mann's Dillinger is going to be in everyone's top 5 when it comes out.
