I tell them, I felt ambivalent about it and they're surprised and look down on me.
Then I'm like, "Bitch, you don't even know who the fuck Magic Alex is much less, the date Sgt. Pepper was released in the UK and the U.S. So don't talk shit about my Beatles!"

It just made me want to hear the original versions again and forget I ever saw it.
And it's one of those movies where there's no characters, no chemistry, no emotion. You're always fully aware that you're watching actors. And it's soooo aware of itself. They brought in Prudence to sing "Dear Prudence" to, and then she fucks off until the end of the movie. The main character is named Jude. I WONDER WHAT THEY WILL SING TO HIM. And what bland, bland covers.
There's a few great scenes, as a movie it's just... a trainwreck.

"A Hard Day's Night" is the actual 1964 movie The Beatles made, with them in it playing their own songs. That is one of the only great Beatles movies one could see and hear. (Along with their others) The Ed Sullivan DVD with their live performances is awesome too, though not a movie.

I felt the film was a mess. The biggest crime is that it took the most engaging song catalog in history and made a film that was pretty to look at but ultimately forgettable. It just didn't work, but not for lack of trying. And of the covers, the only one I really liked was "I Wanna Hold Your Hand". Turning it into a plaintive song of unrequited love was a nice touch.

Sorry, Bendis, I couldn't disagree more. I loved that film. I have it on my iPod and watch it all the time.
I LOVE the Beatles, I grew up listening to them, my parents played them cooontntly, I know all of their songs by heart. I had NO interest in this movie, looked like shit, despite me liking the director. Bummer its a waste of good songs(and by that I dont mean the covers in the movie, but the originls), but sounded like a hack idea anyway. I'll take my Beatles in Rock Band or GH4 instead of crappy movies thanks much
