Borrowed the Gold Box set from a friend. Been watching the hell out of it lately. Loving it to death and raging like mad over two things:

1. There was no third season.

2. There was to be a graphic novel included which would have covered the third season, but it didn't happen:

One of the best series ever. I'd really like to see a restored version of Fire Walk With Me with all/more of the footage.

The ending is there...but it's just not the one that many of us want, unfortunately.

And while a comic would've been cool...it just seems like too much of an afterthought at this point.

From what I understand, 55 minutes worth. There's even a myspace page dedicated to getting the footage released.

I give the same schpeil every time a Twin peaks thread or conversation comes up, so I'll keep it to the bare bones this time coz 90% of you have heard me say this before (probably more than once).

I rate Twin Peaks in my Top 3 TV shows of all time (probably Top 2 if I am brutally honest), but it ended at the exact right time. It's good that there was no 3rd season.

As superb a show as it was, the second season was treading water from the "reveal" episode all the way through until the finale.

If the show had continued it would have gone on to be more sub-par sub-plots like James' road trip with the wife and her "brother".

It ended in the perfect place. It left us wanting more, but if we had got more then people would be talking about how Season 3 "jumped the shark".

The "full" cut is 4 and a half hours long from what I heard.
I'll see if I can find a link.

If you haven't already, check out some of the extras, they're pretty informative on what went on behind the scenes and why the show faltered as it did.

There is also a fun little interview between Lynch, MacLachlan, and Amick (who looks breathtaking) talking about their experiences.

I've already posted the on the board twice previously, but as you are a fan of Lynch and Twin Peaks in particular, check this out.

It's a tribute/homage to Lynch made by one of my best friends and a friend of his that I don't know too well. I think it's kick-ass, but obviously I am biased:

I did. The extras in this set are cool as hell, as well as the SNL skit, which I haven't seen since it first aired.

Okay, I've had a very quick and basic hunt around and all my google-fu has managed to turn up is this from Wikipedia:

Director David Lynch originally shot about five hours of footage that was subsequently cut down to two hours and fifteen minutes.

Now obviously, that doesn't say that the actual cut of the film was 5 hours long, just that he had five hours of footage, but I swear to y'all I read somewhere else that the version Lynch calls the "full" cut of the film had a 4 and a half hour run time. It then went on to describe in detail each of the scenes that were cut.

I'll look deeper into it over the next day or two and resurrect this thread if/when I find it.

The skit is awesome! I noticed Conan O'Brian in the background of the skit. :D

Mike Myers as the dwarf.

Just a classic skit all around. I'm glad they put it on the set since I remembered watching it when it first aired as well. Good stuff.

Wow, and right there:

I really wanted this to be a literal '3rd season' of the show. Bob told me they really wanted to get away from the high school setting, so after the resolution of the Cooper-BOB-possession plot point, they would have cut to something like "Ten Years Later", and then shown us a Twin Peaks where Cooper had quit the FBI and had become the town pharmacist, Sheriff Truman had become a recluse, etc. He also mentioned they were going to have Sheryl Lee come back yet again, this time as a redhead, and probably have her character killed by BOB again. There were also some vague ideas about BOB and Mike being from a planet made of creamed corn, something about Truman driving Mike backwards through the portal into the Black Lodge (which I think would have been a really nice cinematic scene).

Man...that would have been awesome.

All I remember from reading up on it years ago is that I wanted to really see the Truman scenes.

According to the original shooting script, there was also a scene which takes place right after the final episode.

Excellent series. I was a tad young for it when it originally aired (I was ten), so I bought the Gold Box set blind when it came out last fall. One of the best DVD purchases I've ever made, and a damn fine DVD discovery. Funny, scary, creepy, bizarre...all of these are excellent things.
