I didn't think this should be buried in the 7800+ post presidential election megathread. If a moderator disagrees, I respectfully apologize.
The McCain camp accused Obama of playing the race card. (http://www.politico.com/blogs/jonathanmartin/0708/McCain_campaign_chief_Obama_playing_race_card.html )
"Barack Obama has played the race card, and he played it from the bottom of the deck," said Rick Davis, in a statement issued from the McCain campaign. "It's divisive, negative, shameful and wrong."
All Obama said was "Nobody thinks that Bush and McCain have a real answer to the challenges we face. So what they're going to try to do is make you scared of me. You know, he's not patriotic enough, he's got a funny name, you know, he doesn't look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills." Whatever. I've seen nothing but negativity from McCain's camp. All it does is make McCain look desperate, which is a shame because some Republicans I spoke with had interesting reasons as to why they weren't voting for Obama.

Yeah, this really doesn't belong in that thread at all. Completely different subject matter altogether.

To be fair, Hillary and Obama were both fighting for only Democratic votes.

Didn't McCain learn anything from Hillary's mistakes?
As I said in the 7,800+ thread, I am waiting for McCain to cry over lunch about how much he loves his country, invoke RFK's assassination, and lie about sniper fire in Bosnia.
Honestly, it's like McCain is playing from the Hillary Clinton playbook. And considering Hillary LOST, McCain needs to really fight Obama on the issues that separate them, not on bullshit like "he's a CELEBRITY!" and the like.
My favorite are the "He's a CELEBRITY. He's POPULAR. Just like...PARIS HILTON. So you could vote for a drug-addled whore with entitlement issues, or you could vote for John McCain!" election ads. Good Lord. Paris Hilton? Really John? Really?

I still think that I prefer the one commercial where McCain blamed Obama for the current energy prices. I mean this guy has been in the Senate 22 years longer and have favored off-shore drilling for about two weeks. This is a case of the pot calling the spoon black.

I like how the assumption is that Obama was referring to race instead of age.
This is my favorite part:

How dare he be black. How DARE he? Imposing such unsightly racism on our previously tolerant nation!

That "Obama is responsible for high gas prices" ad is ridiculous.

I like how the assumption is that Obama was referring to race instead of age.Teddy Roosevelt was 42 when he became president.
JFK was 43.
Technically, neither appears on paper currency, but I doubt Obama's comment about others saying he doesn't look like former presidents, and that "they" may make fun of his name, applies to age.

I'm sure that McCain's "An American president Americans have been waiting for," ad was not meant to contrast at all with his rival who just happens to have a foreign-sounding name and background.

I cannot wait to watch McCain lose this election. It'll be like an early Christmas present.
Good to see this election is going to be completely different from past elections.

Maybe if MLK hadn't pointed out that he was black all the time, McCain would've voted to give him a holiday.

But do they have any GOOD reasons to vote for McCain. 'cuz I can't think of 1.

You know, I caught that clip about the Britney/Paris comparison and there were some commentators talking, discussing how it's part of McCain's campaign to paint Obama as arrogant. And one guy was saying, its typically the candidate who has to earn the trust of the people. This time it feels like the people have to earn the trust of the candidate (in reference to Obama). And it got me thinking. I don't have any problem with that notion even if it were true (which it isn't.). This country as a unified whole as gotten so ignorant and over the top, we don't deserve the trust of a good candidate.

This country is looking at rough times whether Obama wins the Presidency or doesn't. I'm not looking forward to it.

You're not allowed to be a rational adult if you point out how someone is being a douchebag?

Not only is the McCain campaign going to the typical Republican playbook, he's also running a whinier, bitchier campaign than any Democrat has ever mounted. "Wah, the media's unfair. Wah, Obama's popular. Wah, Obama looks Presidential in Europe and war zones. Wah, Obama won't let me run a fucking retarded headline-grabbing ad with Paris Hilton (for no fucking reason) without calling me on it." It's really an amazing blend of all the worst campaign tricks of the last 40 years. I now have little more respect for McCain than I have for Bush. What a lame-ass.

You do know this is not the first time hes said that? As far back as June to be exact. So why the fake outrage now at something McCain benefits from and knows it?

If anything as blatant as puting on a white hood or attending a clan rally no. Cause you no and I know that it would end his career...maybe. And there is no proof that he is racist, so I would give him the benefit of the doubt. But the fact that he was against the MLK holiday before he "SAW THE LIGHT" bugs the shit out of me.
