Spider-man, despite some fairly epic fail on a lot of key points.

Didn't particularly care for either, but Spidey has Bruce Campbell and J K Simmons so it wins.

Does there even need to be a vote on this one?

I should add that I walked out of the job I had at the time that Howard came out (bag boy at a grocery store) so I could see the first showing of it with my pals...

Part of me really really wanted to give the vote to Howard the Duck, but I still had to give this one to Spider-Man.

kinda regret it though.

Really? Two votes for Howard the Duck, not only one of the worst comic films ever made, but quite possibly one of the worst theatrical releases of all time? Spider-Man was good, very good (though no Spider-Man 2) and I cannot understand anyone arguing Howard was better.

LOL. "Which is better? A kick to the groin or an orgasm after eating cake?"

Oh, make it fair, at least. Howard should have gone up against Mystery Men.

HTD has duck costume nips and duck condoms plus the evolution of duck poster. Tim Robbins in the best role he's ever had and Duck Vs. Giant monster.

Spider-man has none of those things.

You do know how tournament brackets work right? The bottom seed always goes against the top seed.

But...since seeding was based on box office totals and voting is on quality, there is potential in some instances for upsets. For instance American Splendor was a 16 seed last year and it upset the number 1 seed Road to Perdition during the first round. Ghost World (15) also upset Dick Tracy (2) in the same round.

Howard the Duck might be a poor adaptation...but I enjoyed the hell out of it when I was a kid. Tim Robbins is great in it and Jeffrey Jones is pretty great in it as well. Fuck it...Spider-man might be the better movie...but I know I enjoyed Howard way more so it getting my vote.

Fuck.

I grew up on Howard the Duck and loved it passionately...

And I love the GOOD parts about Spiderman... but I just feel WRONG rewarding a movie with such obvious flaws by squashing a movie that raised me.

Spiderman's gonna win this anyway, so I've voting for Howard on the principal alone. :D

Wait, will someone who talks about the glaring and obvious flaws in Spider-Man please explain them to me? I thought the first and second one were pretty much universally beloved but all of a sudden I've noticed a BUNCH of people saying it wasn't very good or it had a ton of problems or whatever. I still think it's a great movie and Spider-Man 2 is still one of the 3 best superhero pictures ever made. It's damn near flawless.

Don't get me wrong! I enjoyed the movie!

But I was very disappointed by it.

Part of that is not the movie's fault: The trailers showed the entire story. There was nothing left to be surprised about. This is when I started avoiding movie trailers.

My problems with the movie itself rest on the shoulder of the dialogue and some of the performances. A lot of people say the story has flaws, but I think that if these actors had been better directed (as they were in Spidey 2), and had the dialogue been tighter... those problems would be fixed.

Spidey 2 did a MUCH better job with the performances, and the dialogue was a LOT tighter - but the writing still had a few flaws.

For the record, though, I LOVE Spiderman 2.
