Does the Gab do commissions? If so, how can I get one done?

I've seen commissions of his on the web. I'll just have to wait and see when I see him at Fan Expo. :p

Just an fyi to all the fellow Gab fans.
If you are lucky enough to go to Fan Expo in Toronto here's some info you might find useful. Since this con is the 3rd biggest in North America, I'm sure that Marvel will have Gab at their booth throughout the con. The good news is that Marvel typically provides a list of who will be at their booth for autographs and at what time throughout the day so make sure you check out their booth as soon as the doors open. The bad news is they typically only provide that day's schedule. Now Gab will obviously sign at the Marvel appearances and if you ask nicely and there's not a huge line, you might even get lucky and get him to draw a quick headsketch for you (yes, FOR FREE). I was lucky enough to catch him at the Marvel booth at NYCC in April 2008, here's the link to the pic

If you can't catch Gab at the Marvel booth don't worry all is not lost. Gab will surely have a table in artist alley, I'd say as soon as you check the Marvel booth when the doors open (RUN, don't walk) to find Gab's table. I say that because as popular as he is he may have a group of people waiting for him to show up because they want to make sure they get on his commission list. I was very upset at NYCC because I had no idea he would actually be there and when I found out he was there on Saturday it was too late to get on his list because it was full. I did get him to sign a beautiful Spiderman poster and I had the pleasure of seeing him work on this amazing commission for someone else. It's of Superman & Batman (in watercolors). Here is a link to the pic so you can see it.

Ok, now that you have all stopped drooling, be glad your sitting down. A commissioned piece like the one pictured here would set you back $1200 U.S. Dollars. That's $600 per colored character. I don't know of course if Gab will be using the same exact pricing at all of the cons he does this year, but this is just so you know what to expect and you bring enough money. I'll be honest even if I was able to get on his list, I couldn't afford something like this, I have a 1 year old and daycare is ridiculously expensive. But I would certainly have gotten something.

Well that's it, I hope all of you find this information useful. Oh, and even if you can't meet Gab in Toronto, the same suggestions hold true for any big con. Good luck and be sure to post pictures of anything you get from Gab.

Carlos from Philly!

thanks for the info lobenzo1, that sound about what every big ticket artist is charging around for commissions. I was thinking of going to the toronto show but i have my first born's baptism that weekend and i can't miss that. I'll see if gab goes to NY again in feb and see if i can make the trip and get a piece done by him.

Thanks
Octavio

Hi Bishop,

No problem about the info - congrats on your first born's baptism that is much more important. My wife and I had our first, I lucked out and got a boy. He will be 13 months old on 8/20.

I was also thinking of going to Toronto with my wife and son, unfortunately the airfare was way to expensive, although he's not 2 yet, we were told that infants can't be carried on their parent's lap for international flights, even though this one is about 1 hour long. So to pay for 3 tickets is too much money. We could save alot and just get a hotel room and I could drive.

Although I'm a first time parent, there's no way I'm crazy enough to drive 8 hours with a 1 year old. I'll definitely go to NYCC in Feb hopefully Gab will be there.
