I usually wait for black folks to coin the proper phrasing of such things, then I go with that.

Have to go with Boom Box. Ghetto Blaster always sounded derogatory to me.

I say, "Boom Box," but "Ghetto Blaster," is much cooler.
Every Ghetto Blaster is a Boom Box, but not every Boom Box is a Ghetto Blaster.

A radio is a Boom Box.
A fantastic videogame from the 80s is Ghetto Blaster.
Growing up, I called it a ghetto blaster. Realizing later in life that I lived neither in nor near the ghetto, I started calling it a boom box. Nowadays, I call it an iPod and I wonder who in the fuck is spinning CDs in a radio the size of a small suitcase anymore.
It's called cell phone in Germany .
fixed that for you :surrend:

Agreed. I HATE the way the word "ghetto" is used these days*
*by "these days" I mean for the past 30 years.

You mean tapes right? It's not a boom box if you're not popping in tapes, waiting for play button to click so you can flip the side.
Ghetto blaster. Just plug it up sit it somewhere central and have yourselves a party.

Word. Popping a "pause tape" in the boom box and sitting on the stoop was summer personified

I was gonna go with "tapes", but then that would've necessitated explaining what tapes were to the younger crowd.
