I'm starting to put together a mix-cd of some of my favorite cover songs and I thought I'd see what everyone's is. They also don't necessarily have to be your favorite, I'm also looking for interesting and strange covers.

A few of the songs going on my mix are:

Johnny Cash - Rusty Cage (only because I've heard HURT a million times)
Jimmy Eat World - Firestarter
Ben Folds - Bitches Ain't Shit
Xiu Xiu - Under Pressure
Flaming Lips - Can't Get You Out Of My Head
Beck - Diamond Dogs
The Katzenjammers - Cars (oh the glorious COWBELL!)
Nirvana - About 5 or 6 songs, can't decide. Probably Return Of The Rat

Also during some research I found this site: http://www.secondhandsongs.com
It's a decent searchable database of cover songs/artists, but it seems to be missing a lot.

..I just want to add, I use to pray. Not necessarily because I believed it would work, but it was nice to say certain things aloud, prioritize my thoughts, and think about issues and people I care about. It's just became a nice practice, like journaling.

I don't disagree with you on a lot of this, Alex. I think if something should be done it's my responsibility to do it, not some "God" I'm not entirely sure I believe in, and if he does exist, is too big a concept to really give a damn about our petty little doings. I just just don't get when people act insulted or snobbish when someone says their prayers are with you. (not that you're acting that way) I liken it to a gay guy hitting on me. I appreciate the sentiment whether it's my thing or not.

Thats one of my favorite cover songs as well.

Remember how you and everyone else that loves music and loves Johnny Cash loved this song? Well, you should, it's seriously one of the best and sadly most forgotten songs Cash ever put out. Remember how Cash tinged it with anger, longing, love, and passion?

Yeah, Chris Knight, one of, if not THE best writer in ANY genre of music today does and even BETTER job.
