I've been on a huge Elvis Costello kick lately, and as much as I love the other albums of his I have, This Year's Model really sticks with me. It's one of those classic albums that really lives up to and exceeds the hype. No Action, Little Triggers, Night Rally, Lipstick Vogue, The Beat.... great songs. Plus I have the reissue with Radio, Radio as the last song. Costello hasn't been this great since, which is saying something because his other albums are some of my favorites.

And something truly fucked up. His backing band, "Clover", later became the News with Huey Lewis. What's up with that!??

I certainly agree that it's the greatest Costello album.

Along with "Armed Forces" and "Get Happy!" it forms the rich, creamy center of EC's career- a powerful triad that everything since has emulated, but never surpassed.

I've listened to Get Happy! once and I liked it in the, "okay, so thats how it sounds and now it has to grow on me" way. Although, "High Fidelity" has been stuck in my head for WEEKS.

It's my favorite, for sure. I like all his albums to some degree. He's never flat-out disappointed. Tho' I must confess to thinking Momofuku is kind of bland, it still has some good things to hear on it.

This Year's Model is my most played album of his on iTunes.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but on this album he was backed by the Attractions, although it wasn't until Armed Forces that they were credited as Elvis Costello & The Attractions.

I believe Clover only backed him on My Aim Is True

I've had "Possession" stuck in my head since June.

I wasn't a big fan of Get Happy!! at first, but it's really grown on me.

"Get Happy!!" is actually my favorite EC album. "I Stand Accused" will be played at my wedding.

I actually prefer My Aim is True myself, but you really can't go wrong with any of his first four albums.

I still need to purchase the This Year's Model Deluxe Edition.

You really can't go wrong with anything of his up until Spike!, IMO.
