:cry:I was mortified to find out that a great artist has passed away, scarring the covers and faces of comics forever! Michael Turner has passed away after a long bout with cancer at the age of 37. In tribute I thought it would be cool to discuss some of our favorite art, covers or staues he has produced. No haters please!!

Some of my favorites was his Grace statue, and his Civil War covers.

Wow I'm a younger reader and collector of comics and while I never heard of Turner, his art is fantastic... Trully a sad loss for his family, friends, and fans

This is terrible....flat out terrible.
Michael Turner was an incredible draughtsman, incredible artist, and an incredible pioneer....Godfall is always going to be one of my favorite Supes arcs and the Aspen stuff is beautiful.
I heard from the Aspen folks last year how sick he was.
They said it was why he was only doing covers.
What a loss.
I hope the best for his family and friends.

be cool for someone to do a sculpt and donate $ to the American Cancer Society or something in MT's honor.
Could even get a bunch of guys together to do a jam sculpt on a kit and put it out there with the profits beyond production going to the cause....just a thought.

I wish I were a much better artist than I am because this is an awesome idea!
Hint, Hint to any and all aspiring artists!

Michael, I am pretty sure you are in good place right now, I had a great opportunity to met you in person back in 2003, at the WizardWorld Philadelphia. You are a very simple and humble guy and as everybody noticed, always smiling. Heaven have got another great addition. It is strange to say but, I am "not" sad, I am "not" sorry for you, on the contrary, I am kind of "happy" because you are now in good hands for sure. My condolences to your family and friends.

RIP

Helder M.

This post is all about respect. I never got to meet the man nor do I know him personally but I wish I would have had the time to. 37 years of age...This man was but a year older than I am and I know I haven't done all it is I want to do in a lifetime. For this I mourn but we as fans have so much to respect and thank him for that I offer my most honest condolences to surviving members of his family and friends.

Lets try to keep this post going for a while and honor the man and his work!

really hate to hear this. he was a really nice guy, meet him at wiz texas and talked to him for awhile there. was really unhurried and nice. and yes he was smiling the whole time. joked with him about his upcoming contract with marvel and he signed a couple books for me,then did not have me chased off as I asked him questions for 30 mins..struck me as a very nice guy with big talents in drawing. my thoughts and prayers go out to his freinds and family.

It's such an irony that those identity crisis covers with the caskets are drawn by him.

Sad stuff. I found out yesterday from Wizard editor Brian Houligan(sp?) at Wizard World Chicago yesterday. Before the McFarlane panel he announced it to everyone. What a shock.

I am sorry to hear this. :( His original work on Witchblade was beautiful. I didn't know him personally, but from what I have heard he was a great guy. My prayers go out to his family and friends.

I had no clue either. I have been out of the comic book loop for a long time now....kind of got sick of all of the crossovers.....

Anyhow, he was a great artist and will always be remembered as such.

Everyone was heavy hearted when we heard the news.
His art was magnificent, and an inspiration to so many artists.
He definitely left a large void now that he's gone.
May he rest in peace.

I loved his style and work.

What amazes me most was his courage. While battling cancer and and not feeling remotely well, he still showed up to cons to meet fans and do sketches. He still worked on covers, etc. He was the definition of courage and devotion.

Rest in peace, Mr. Turner. You will be missed.

I loved his cover of Fantastic Four 551. Honestly picked that book up for the cover and started reading comics again after 10 years. I was never really one of those guys who new the artist and penciler and writer of a series but after getting that book I looked into his work. Sorry to hear of his passing he was a GREAT talent in the comic world.

RIP Mr. Turner. You talent will be missed.

Aspen's Godfall Superman trade is what got me back into comics.
the covers were absolutely amazing.
If anybook came out with a Turner variant...I made sure that was the one I got.

Every week I get an e-mail newsletter from Comic Buyer's Guide containing a couple top stories about the comics industry. This weeks issue was titled "Eric Stephenson named new Image publisher".

You'd think Turner's death would be a little bit more important.

They send out "breaking stories" e-mails all the time about stupid shit like "Pittsburgh Comic Shop owner sentenced to life in prison" but nothing for Turner. They actually put his death as the 3rd article under "What's in your store this week?".
