World War Hulk was pretty good until Sentry was used as a Deus Ex Machina. But we got Incredible Hercules and Skarr out of it so I'm not complaining.

But I don't know about Red Sonja, is it good enough to merit it as the best series of the year? Even over Captain America or Green Lantern?

Odd, they seem to have completely overlooked Minister Jade. According to my mom it's the coolest comic EVER. Are these bastards calling my mom a liar?

I mean, World War Hulk wasn't bad. But it really was just a slugfest comic, essentially.

Well they DID promise it would have lots of Hulk smash. When you've got a comic based on the premise of Hulk coming back to earth to take revenge, what were you expecting a political debate?

Someone needs to send this guy some Scott Pilgrim, DMZ, The Damned, Skyscrapers of the Midwest and Pride of Baghdad.

But then he would know what he's talking about :)

Coming after the phenomenal Planet Hulk, it was just a bit of a letdown, I guess.

Avengers: The Initiative also deserved props of some kind. After a rocky first issue, it quickly became one of my favorite Marvel books.

I have no doubt that the guy is an avid comic book reader, but I think when you make a bold statement that "These are hands down the coolest books that came out last year" you should at least try to do a little more research and see if there's buzz about things other than books with capes and licensed properties. It's like writing a "Best Movies of the Year" column based on what's playing at the duplexes and has grossed several million dollars. You miss out on smaller films that are sometimes much better than the blockbusters.

Mice Templar. nothing else like it - period and usually, nothing else like it means cool.
Criminal, yes indeedy, saw it got a mention.
Aqua Leung, Smith and Maybury, stars in the making.
Walking Dead - hello?
Kabuki the Alchemy, best arc of the incredible run.

World War Hulk was pretty good until Sentry was used as a Deus Ex Machina.

They might as well change his superhero name to Dues ex Machina. It's all he's used for... :)
