i just started to watch the series- on episode 4 of the first season.
And i have to say that this show rocks. Its like if batman was less through with things and had a giant black robot. fucking cool.

and usally i hate anime. In fact- i think this is the first ever series i actually enjoy and look forward to.

any other takers on the O?

its a show that ran on cartoon network for a while. Like most anime its kinda weird and some things are just competely unanswered.

In a nutshell Robert Smith is a negotiator for a city that is comprised of domes. He deals with kidnapings and just about anything that anyone hires him for. Kinda like a private investigator, with morals. He won't work with anyone shady or arrogant, and has a weak spot for women in trouble and the elderly.

So he finds himself in situations where things just get insane. Monsters posing as gods or giant robots pop up. And he summons 'big o' who he transports the giant robot via the abaondoned subway that everyones scared to go down into.

oh... and everyone in the city also got amnesia one day. So alot of people including Robert Smith are struggling to know themselves. They allude a little to his past... something about the millitary.

i love the big o. the ending was typically weird for anime, but it's still a great show.when ever i watched it, the first thing to come to mind was powers and batman the animated series.that was the thing that drew me to the show in the first place.plus, the voice actor for roger smith is one of my favorite voice actors, so that was an added bonus. :D

minor spoiler i guess...
[hide:1df88887b4]in one episode a room that robert is in catches fire and he jumps out, turns, and fires a grapple. I had a batman chill down my spine. I miss that animated series so much.[/hide:1df88887b4]

Thing about this show is that there are episodes that are as exciting as elevator music. Very solemn and dull. When we get action sequences they are pretty cool but those are not often enough. Plus as has been said there's no resolution or answers for what happened to everyone. I hate that kinda thing.

Big O was a pretty cool cartoon. Very brooding with lots of action. I couldn't get the theme song outta my head for awhile!

I always thoug of it as an anime version of Bruce Wayne with a giant robot.

see- i disagree. I'm into the charecters and how they play off eachother. Many of the episodes are charecter driven and not action packed. Its like the giant robots are just a back seat to the relationships going on.
